How to Find (& Catch) Wobbuffet in Pokémon Sword & Shield

Pokémon Sword & Shield is the latest console installment of the beloved Pokémon franchise. The game debuted Holiday of 2019 and has since added the Isle of Armor DLC this past June 17th, 2020. Players who purchased the expansion pass have much to look forward to with the Crown Tundra DLC to release November 2020. Both expansions are said to bring back Pokémon from older games, as well as reskinned Legendary Pokémon. However, Wobbuffet, players’ most beloved Psychic-type, is included in the base game of Pokémon Sword & Shield. This guide will help players find and catch a Wobbuffet in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

In Pokémon Sword & Shield, Wobbuffet is a Psychic-type Pokémon. To catch Wobbuffet players must consider that Psychic-type Pokémon are effective against Fighting and Poison types. Players should avoid using these types of Pokémon. Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type Pokémon are effective against Psychic types. Players must be careful if they seek to catch Wobbuffet because they may make the Pokémon faint with the type advantage. Wobbuffet’s are not particularly difficult to catch and are quite frail in the wild, so any Pokémon that isn’t a ridiculously high level should be adequate in catching the Pokémon.

Where to Find Wobbuffet in Pokémon Sword & Shield

Players have a chance to find Wobbuffet in several locations in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

In Pokémon Sword & Shield, players can also obtain a Wobbuffet by evolving a Wynaut when it reaches level 15. Wynauts can be obtained through breeding a Wobbuffet equipped with a Lax Incense with either a Ditto or Wobbuffet of the opposite gender. Ditto’s are typically the quickest route for breeding because players can find Ditto’s with the desired transferable stats. Wynauts can also be caught occasionally from 2-star raids. Wynaut and Wobbuffet raids can spawn in Hammerlocke Hills, Motostoke Riverbank, and Stony Wilderness.

Players who have purchased the season pass are anxiously waiting for the Crown Tundra DLC to release this November. Luckily, there is still much for players to do within the Isle of Armor DLC and the Galar region of Pokémon Sword & Shield. Many players must still tackle the challenge of finding all Digletts, let alone complete their Pokédex before the inclusion of more Pokémon. Wobbuffet can be very useful for players to have prepared for the upcoming DLC. Several Pokemon, like the Legendary Pokémon Galarian Zapdos, will be added with the Crown Tundra DLC and Wobbuffet will be a great counter to those Pokémon.
