To say it’s difficult and time consuming would be a severe understatement, as not only will players have to immerse themselves into each stage multiple times, but they will also have to save an exorbitant amount of gold- not to mention complete every level on the hardest difficulty.

It’s certainly no walk in the park, but for any Samurai Jack fan, it’s nothing more than a challenge easily digestible and all-the-more rewarding upon its completion. Combat & Story-Specific Trophies & Achievements

Aside from the nine main story trophies/achievements, there are a variety of other rewards associated with combat in Samurai Jack, specifically those that deal with utilizing only one type of weapon in one stage, such as Ace of Clubs, True Samurai, Everything is a Nail, That’s the Spear-It, and Seek Nothing Outside Yourself. It’s best to get these out of the way early on, especially when playing on an easier difficulty, as having ranged weapons and Jack’s entire arsenal at your disposal when later attempting to conquer the Master of Masters difficulty will be an utter godsend.

You will also want to tackle the more simple achievements, like Clinch Victory, which is best suited for the boss battle in Aku City. Whittle Josephine’s health down until she falls to the floor and, with Jack’s fists equipped, grab her by pressing the right bumper and the trophy/achievement should pop. Another easy one is Tattered and Torn, which can be reserved for the first boss battle against the Scottsman. Let him wail into you until Jack’s health is at the minimum, then return the molly-whopping in kind and the trophy should pop after the bout.

There’s also Great Interior Design, which tasks the player with killing foes using the environment. This is best achieved amidst the penultimate stage, on the Prison Ship, wherein you will find a wide-open hangar with giant boxes latched to the floor. Simply smash the locks, lining up the trajectory of the box with the slithering aliens, and watch in glee as those pests get squashed under their own devices. You will also have to defeat 1,000 enemies, at least 20 of which with a bow, and use a Kiai attack, yet all three of these will come organically.

Collectables & Miscellaneous Mock-Up

In Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, players will have to acquire an assortment of various collectibles, from all in-game weapons to Kamons. Since you’ll be playing through each stage multiple times in order to learn all skills and upgrade all weapons to their maximum levels, you won’t really ever miss any of them or be locked out of acquiring collectibles at any point – though, still, it’s best to start early and not confuse yourself later on.

Despite there being only 22 total items in the game, gathering them all may well be one of the most difficult and time-consuming, given that players will have to save enough gold to buy all of the various Bracelets sold via Da Samurai. All of the necessary items to unlock the trophy/achievement can be bought from him at the final stage, Aku’s Tower. There’s also the main in-game collectible items themselves to worry about, 50 total Corrupted Emperor’s Kamons, which when gathered and Aku defeated relinquish a secret alternate ending to the official Adult Swim show.

As for collecting all of the weapons, you will have to utilize the grab attack throughout each stage, acquiring such hidden arms as the Falchion, Sasaho Yari, Spiked Club, Handgun, Assualt Rifle, and more. When enemies are near-death and you go for a grab without any weapon equipped, Jack will steal theirs and use it against them. You will also have to steal both the Ancient King’s Mace and Josephine’s Parasol from the Cave of the Ancient and Aku City stage bosses, respectively.

Master of Masters Completion

Imbuing the frustration of Bloodborne into Samurai Jack, the game’s highest difficulty setting, aptly coined Master of Masters, rips the entire joy out of the experience. Yet, even so, it’s still a blast, not to mention a heaven-sent joy to overcome, as speedrunning fans prove the challenge is completely worth it.

Like Uncharted’s Crushing and The Witcher 3’s Death March, Master of Masters is where the game drops all of its funny business and the no-holds-barred playthrough takes form. It’s not even available to the player until each stage has already been beaten on Master difficulty. Patience is of absolute necessity when attempting to complete all stages on Master of Masters; as the name implies, it’s far from easy.

In fact, some might even complain and claim it’s impossible. It’s not, you just have to ensure Jack is capable enough of handling himself by the time this difficulty is required in your playthrough, plus have the right amount of resources in your inventory to tackle stages. Wait until you have unlocked all of the various skills, not to mention upgraded every weapon class to their highest potential. I’d also recommend replaying Aku’s Tower a few times, accumulating gold and buying a ton of items from Da Samurai. Even with all of these various enhancements, nothing will prepare you for the absolute brutality of Master of Masters, but so is the beauty of this challenge.

Once all stages have been completed on Master of Masters, two final rewards should be gifted the player: My Mission is Righteous and Back to the Past. It may not have been an easy experience, but it sure was worth it.
