Here’s where you can get Filthy Lucre to complete your Witherhoard Catalyst quest in Destiny 2.

It’s a new season in Destiny 2, and as has been the case since the release of Shadowkeep, that means there’s a new seasonal Exotic and a new Exotic quest to get its Catalyst. For Season of Arrivals, that would be the Witherhoard Exotic grenade launcher, and for some reason, the Catalyst quest is all bank heist themed.

Why? It’s probably a reference to how the Witherhoard is a Taken-themed weapon. Har har.

Anyway, as with Eriana’s Vow, Symmetry, and Tommy’s Matchbook, Witherhoard is going to make you jump through a few hoops in order to unlock its Catalyst. Here’s how to get Filthy Lucre and do the other steps in the quest.

The Bank Job

After getting some grenade launcher kills to acquire “vault keys,” the next part of the Witherhoard Catalyst quest requires you to get 300 “Filthy Lucre,” which you acquire from completing activities. Namely, Strikes, Nightfalls, Gambit matches, and Crucible matches. Nightfall: The Ordeal and wins in Gambit and Crucible provide the most efficient progress, but there are ways to speed things up.

First, and easiest, is to pay for the season pass. The Rank 11 and Rank 22 rewards are catalysts for the Catalyst quest, which will first double and then triple your progress. Get to Rank 22 before you decide to really start grinding this quest out.

Second is to complete your activities efficiently. Crucible modes Mayhem and Scorched are typically very short, and so provide a lot of progress for grinding them out. You can also do short Strikes like the Lake of Shadows, which can be completed in just 10 minutes with a skilled fireteam.

Those Other Two Jobs

The other two things you’ll need to complete the quest is grenade launcher multikills and 100 Guardian kills using a grenade launcher. The first one is easy: just take a grenade launcher like Fighting Lion into a few strikes and you’ll rack up those multikills pretty easily.

Killing 100 Guardians requires a bit more skill, but there are a few ways to make things easier. Witherhoard is a fine choice to bring into Crucible matches, but if you want to double-up on your grenade launcher loadout, try The Colony as your exotic and also take a Legendary grenade launcher like Orwing’s Maul or Mountaintop. The Colony is a fantastic heavy weapon for killing Guardians, so camp that heavy ammo and get your murder on.
