How to Get MewTwo for Pokemon Lets Go

Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo has seen a dramatically shifting base capture rate following the return of the Mewtwo EX Raids, providing a challenge to even the most dedicated Pokemon GO trainers. For those playing Pokemon: Let’s Go, however, a new promotion features a much easier way to to capture the legendary psychic Pokemon.

Gamers with mobile devices simply need to download the Pokemon Pass application – which is available on both iPhone and Android devices – and visit a Best Buy Store between November 4 and November 14. Once the application registers that gamers are using it from a Best Buy location, it will give them a redeemable Mewtwo code that can be used in either edition of Pokemon Let’s Go.

Once players have the code from the Pokemon Pass application, they’re all set to load up Pokemon Let’s Go. Once the game has booted up, players must select Communicate from the main menu, then click on Mystery Gifts and Get With Code/Password. A save game prompt will pop up, and after that players will be able to enter the Mewtwo promotional code and watch as a level 70 Mewtwo apparates into their Pokemon Box.

The promotion is Bestbuy’s way to encourage players to lock-in a pre-order for Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, which comes out November 15 – so what better way to get Pokemon fans into the stores than an easy shot at Mewtwo? According to the promotion, the legendary psychic will arrive as a hardened level 70 Pokemon, and will come in with the moves Amnesia, Psychic, Teleport, and Recover.

With Sword and Shield poised to take the reigns as the latest Pokemon title on the Nintendo Switch, it’s time for both editions of Pokemon Let’s Go to retire into the shadows, with Game Freak producer Junichi Masuda recently confirming that there are no plans to produce a Pokemon Let’s Go sequel. He stated that the core reason behind the move was simply that Game Freak wanted to focus on crafting new experiences rather than revisiting old ones, which is a sentiment that makes a lot of sense considering that the studio recently just put out its first non-Pokemon game in nearly two decades.
