Monster Hunter: World gives players the opportunity to grind for dozens of weapons that flesh out an arsenal of weapons for every hunt. Some boast raw power, some high elemental damage, and some are just awesome. The Well-Done Hammer, part of the ongoing “Grand Appreciation Fest,” is one of those awesome weapons and it’s relatively easy to acquire.

First off, you’re going to need to purchase the new Iceborne DLC to access the quest needed to craft this weapon. Once you do, it will open up the game’s “Master Rank” quests that, if you’re a fan of the older Monster Hunter titles, works a lot like G-Rank. It adds a ton of new monsters, armor sets, difficulty & weapons.

Once you’ve picked up the Iceborne expansion, you’ll need to find the MR16 quest “Beef is Never a Mi-Steak.” In the quest, you’ll be put up against the Ebony Odogoron and Glavenus. The quest is pretty straight forward; Hunt the monsters before the 50 minute timer runs out and don’t cart three times. The quest can be completed solo or with up to four hunters. Once you’ve completed the quest for the first time, the weapon will be available to view at the Smithy.

In total, the base version of the Well-Done Hammer requires:

  • 2x Meaty Canteen Tickets
  • 2x Ebony Odogoron Hardfang
  • 3x Molten Bursa
  • 8x Monster Solidbone

Once you’ve gotten the necessary pieces to construct the Hammer, you will then be able to upgrade it to the “Juicy Well-Done Hammer.” Those upgrades will only require one additional “Meaty Canteen Ticket,” but you will have to enter The Guiding Lands for the remaining ingredients. Unfortunately, if you haven’t beaten the base game or Iceborne DLC you won’t be able to enter The Guiding Lands until you have. Once it’s unlocked, it gives special monster parts and mining materials that you’ll need for the final upgrade to get your hammer to Rarity 11 and unlock MASSIVE damage.

If you’re looking to shave a little time off of the grind, when trying to get the Ebony Odogoron and Glavenus parts, try launching an Investigation for one or both monsters. Doing so will increase the drops you’ll receive at the end of the hunt. Capturing the monster is always a sure-fire way to guarantee more rewards at the end of a quest as well.
