Spotify Wrapped is one of the app’s coolest features, and just in time for the end of 2021, this year’s Wrapped is available for everyone to see. Since its launch in April 2006, Spotify has been a dominant player in the music world. Today, it’s the biggest and most popular music streaming service by a long shot. It has more than 381 million monthly users, access to over 70 million songs, and has a host of personalization features that give it a competitive edge over the likes of Apple Music and YouTube Music.
One such feature is Spotify Wrapped. Every December, Spotify launches its Wrapped experience to show users an overview of their Spotify listening for the past year. It’s a way for people to see how much time they spent listening to Spotify, which songs they played the most, the artists they stuck with, etc. Along with being a fun summary of your own listening, it’s also become a tradition for people to share their Spotify Wrapped on social media and see how their stats compare with friends.
After a year of countless ups and downs, December has started off on a good note. As of December 1, Spotify Wrapped 2021 is now rolling out to Spotify Free and Premium users alike. In theory, Wrapped 2021 should show up automatically in the Spotify app — either on the Home page or by tapping the ‘Search’ icon and searching for ‘Wrapped.’ If neither of those work, there is a way to force Spotify Wrapped 2021 to appear. Open a browser on your phone (Chrome, Safari, etc.), go to ‘spotify.com/wrapped,’ tap ‘Download Spotify,’ and it’ll redirect you to Spotify Wrapped 2021 in the Spotify app.
How To Share Spotify Wrapped 2021
In order to share your Spotify Wrapped on social media, you first need to actually watch it. On the 2021 Wrapped page, tap the big banner at the top of the screen that says, ‘See how you listened in 2021.’ This starts playing an Instagram Stories-like video with different chapters. You can watch the whole thing in order, or tap the left and right sides of the screen to skip through the sections as you please. Almost all of these will have a ‘Share this story’ button at the bottom of the screen. Tap this, choose how you want to share it, and that’s all there is to it. Keep in mind this only shares the info for that specific section of Wrapped 2021. If you want to share your top genres, songs, and artists, you’ll need to share each of those as individual posts.
If that sounds like too much work, another option is to watch/skip to the end of Wrapped 2021. The last page shows a high-level overview of your entire listening throughout the year — including your favorite album, top five artists, top five songs, number one genre, and how many minutes you listened throughout the year. You can swipe horizontally on these to see the same info with different colors/themes. After finding the perfect one, tap ‘Share,’ choose how you want to share it, and you’re done.
