How to Get The Mech Suit in No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky provides a fully formed universe for players to explore and mine for cosmic raw materials. It can be a lonely journey out there, and any form of companionship is always welcomed even if it’s in the guise of an Exo Mech Suit. This suit helps with navigating challenging terrains, among other things, and this guide will explain how to get one.

Initially released in August of 2016, by indie developer Hello Games, No Man’s Sky is a massive outer space survival-simulation that throws players into the depths of the outer rims of the galaxy to unravel the enigma in the center of the universe called “Atlas”. There is an estimated 18 quintillion generated planets to explore, each with their own wildlife, rules, weather patterns, and overall ecosystem. With four basic principles, this game follows the gameplay mechanics of; trading, exploring, surviving, and even combat. Even though not every planet is hostile, there are indeed threats dwelling on the planet’s surfaces. Players will start with their own starcraft and a “multi-tool” that acts as both a weapon and an analytical device. They will be tasked with mining rocks and other surfaces to find minerals to craft with along with garnering different plants and other elements. Players will need to maintain their starcraft, by constantly; refueling it, repairing it, and using it like a mule to stock up on resources.

Planets are exotic, large, and sometimes dangerous. No Man’s Sky has its own economic system where players can trade resources and gather credits for future purchases. However, finding resources (like fauna and minerals) can be a jarring venture. Some planets have toxic air, violent storms, extreme temperatures, and jagged rocky terrains. This can be a problem and also limiting for players and their starcraft when trying to obtain the basics of resources and level up. Therefore, with this game’s many updates, there is now an Exo Mech Suit available that helps players safely walk through these types of planets with ease and enable the opening up of new destinations. Unfortunately, getting a hold of these suits doesn’t come easy and players will need to grind to get one assembled. With a little patience, getting an Exo Mech Suit will literally open up new worlds of possibilities. The following will explain where to go and what to use to build a fully functional Mech and how it functions.

How To Get A Mech Suit In No Man’s Sky

There’s a step-by-step process to get the Exo-Mech Suit and players will need to organize their resources first and foremost before getting started. The first thing that players will need is the “Space Anamoly”. To get there, players will need to progress pretty deep into the story in order to find it. Once players have discovered the “Space Anamoly”, they will need to head to the backside of it. Be sure to go up on the second floor beyond ‘The Nexus’ and approach the “Construction Research Station” pod that’s on the left side of the circular room inside the building. Once players have accessed the “Construction Research Station” pod, go over the to “Transport Modules” tab. This is where all the basic resources to build an Exo-Mech Suit can be found. Within the tree of nodes, (around the center of it) is the “Minotaur Geobay” node which is basically where the mech will be found.

As players can see, there’s a vast number of resources needed in order to proceed to assemble an Exo Mech Suit. Players will need:

  • 10 Salvaged Data
  • 5 Metal Plating
  • 4 Ion Battery
  • 100 Paraffinium

To summon the Exo-Mech Suit whenever a player is on a planet, summon the “Geobay” under the “Structures” tab in the inventory menu. Scroll through the different ‘Geobay’ variations until it comes across as the “Minotaur Geobay”. Players will need:

  • 5 Metal Plating
  • 4 Ion Battery
  • 100 Paraffinium

This will build the Geobay and players can place it anywhere they deem suitable. The mech will automatically be on the pad upon placement, but it is worth pointing out that the Mech Suit will be bare bones with its features. So, if players want to upgrade the Exo-Mech Suit, they’ll need to head back to the ‘Space Anamoly’ and talk to the “Exocraft Specialist” that’s within the same room as the “Construction Research Station” earlier. There are a number of blueprints that players can buy that’ll upgrade the Mech. Then, players will be able to build them with raw materials and insert them while the planet-side. The first upgrade that’s recommended will be the “Icarus Fuel System”. This will recharge the mech automatically through the power of the sun. So, players won’t need to worry about the hassle of constantly refueling the Mech with this upgrade installed. This costs 120 nanites to purchase. After getting this upgrade, it’s advised to get the:

  • Megawatt Heater
  • Air Filtration Unit
  • Neutron Shielding
  • Thermal Buffer

Each of these blueprints costs 120 nanites each and they will provide protection with each kind of hazardous ecosystem that players will encounter. Of course, there is a slew of other upgrades that players can buy at their own discretion, but the aforementioned upgrades are a good starting point. Eventually, players will be able to install; cannons, lasers, and a radar, among other things. The Exo Mech Suit will collect resources on its own and even comes with a jet-pack to help traverse areas with treacherous terrains. If players get separated from their suit, they can always go back to the Geobay and find the “Summon ExoCraft” control panel to call it back. This can is a handy feature to have in times of escaping hostiles while on foot or even getting stuck in a glitch.
