Luigi is an unlockable playable character in Super Mario Galaxy. This guide will help players unlock him. Luigi has always been Mario’s right-hand man for most of his major adventures. While Mario was out on Isle Delfino cleaning up the gunk on the island, Luigi was clearing out a haunted mansion to make it his own. Fortunately, Luigi can join Mario on one of his biggest adventures across the cosmos. Players are able to travel through space for the very first time or revisit to cosmos in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection. Here’s how players can unlock Luigi in Super Mario Galaxy.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a collection of Mario’s biggest 3D adventures and features Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. The only other classic 3D Mario title missing from the collection is Super Mario Galaxy 2 for some unknown reason. While no major changes are present in the games aside from a few titles receiving widescreen support, these classic adventures maintain their forms from their original release. The game will only be available for a limited time, ending production on March 31st, 2021. Unlocking Luigi as a playable character is one of the hardest tasks in the game. To unlock him, players will need to collect all 120 stars in Super Mario Galaxy. The player then needs to beat the game one more time then Luigi will be unlocked. He will have his own version of the game known as Super Luigi Galaxy. Luigi has his own differences in gameplay including running faster and jumping higher than Mario, losing 1.5 of his air every time he spins underwater, and having a rolling stop when attempting to stop moving. Completing the game and collecting all of the stars with Luigi will provide the player with a small alternate ending.

While it is unfortunate that this collection will only be around for a short period, it’s great for players who have never experienced some of these adventures are now able to play them on the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Sunshine never officially released outside of the Nintendo Gamecube, making this the first time players can purchase it legally since then. At least with the other two titles, they have been re-released countless times across various Nintendo hardware. This collection will be gone forever starting on March 31st, 2021.
