How To Unlock Pokémon GO Throwback Challenge Champion 2020 If You Missed A Week

Pokémon GO’s four throwback events have now come to an end, but trainers who didn’t manage to complete them all don’t have to miss out on the rewards.

The last four weeks have been all about Throwback Events in Pokémon GO. Trainers were first tasked with completing Kanto-based challenges, then Johto, Hoenn, and finally Sinnoh this past week. Not only were the tasks and rewards focused on the respective regions each week, but the Pokémon spawning were almost exclusively from each week’s region.

While most of the tasks were easy to complete, they were time-consuming as each week was comprised of 27 different tasks. That might mean a lot of trainers didn’t manage to complete every single challenge every single week. That means they don’t qualify for next week’s Throwback Challenge Champion 2020 Event which is reserved for players who completed every single challenge across all four weeks.

Trainers who didn’t manage to complete every single event, fear not. You don’t have to miss out on the Champion Event if you don’t want to. There is an extra way in, but it is going to cost you. As is the case with other Pokémon GO events, players can buy a ticket to participate. The ticket costs $7.99 and can be bought from the in-game store, although it doesn’t appear to be available just yet.

The ticket cannot be bought using Pokécoins and must be purchased with real-life currency. Once bought, it will go live when the Throwback Champion Event begins on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 1 pm local time, and expire when the event ends on Monday, June 8, 2020, also at 1 pm local time. A shorter period than the previous Throwback Challenges, so the assumption is there will be less to do.

As for what trainers can expect from the event, it appears that this one will be focused on two regions. Unova and Galar. Unova because it’s the only active region in Pokémon GO not have had its own Throwback Event, and Galar because there are existing Pokémon in the game with Galarian forms. A lot of those Galarian forms will be making their Pokémon GO debuts during the Throwback Champion Event.
