Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl take place in the massive Sinnoh region, and while it can be nice to travel on foot for the beginning of the game, getting a bike is a must. It allows trainers to travel across the map quickly, and it’s a helpful item for hatching Pokemon eggs very quickly, as steps are still counted when players are biking. Luckily, players will unlock the bike in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl as part of the game’s narrative, so it’s technically impossible to miss the bike.

Pokemon trainers will not be able to get their hands on a bicycle until they defeat the second Gym Leader in Eterna City, Gardenia. She focuses on using a party of Grass-type Pokemon, and once players beat her team, they’ll be able to use the Hidden Move Cut, used for slicing trees down that may block the player’s path occasionally.

Use Cut to Enter the Galactic Building in Eterna

After teaching Cut to one of their Pokemon, trainers can head out of the gym and go north to the Team Galactic building behind the Pokemon Center in town. There are three trees in front of it, but players can use Cut to destroy them and enter the facility.

Defeat Commander Jupiter

After going inside, players will need to face off in an epic battle against one of the commanders of Team Galactic, Jupiter. After the battle, the man who was being harassed by Jupiter will invite the player over to their cycle shop in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s Eterna City.

How to Get the Bike in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Rad Rickshaw’s Cycle Shop can be found just south of the city’s Pokemon Center. He’s so thankful for the player saving them that he gifts them a free bike –players can even choose one of four colors: blue, red, yellow, or green.

After choosing one of the bike colors, Pokemon players can get the bike out by finding it in the Key Items section in the menu. They can press B while riding the bicycle to shift gears.

How to Get off the Bike in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

To get off the bike in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players will need to go into the Key Items Pocket and highlight the bike and then press “get off the bike.” To make it snappier for the future, players can register the item to remove/take it out with just a press of the + button.
