Horse riding in Far Cry 6 is a fun, new form of transport in a franchise known for its wide variety of transportation options, both on land and in the air. Similar to the beast riding found previously in the Far Cry franchise, horses are the most accessible form of transportation in the game. So far, the riding mechanics seem to be both useful and satisfying, and it’s an experience that nobody should miss out on. Thankfully, it is not as controversial as other animal interactions in Far Cry 6. Since much of the game involves traversing the expansive open world, grabbing a horse as early as possible should be a top priority.
The first area that wild horses can be obtained is Madrugarda, so the Madrugadian horse is the best option for early-game transportation. While Far Cry 6 offers a few different places to explore early on, if the goal is to get a horse right away, then Madrugarda is the best place to visit first. Then, to ensure that the horses will actually spawn, grab the quest from Carla to meet Juan Cortez in Armonia. Go there, return with Juan, and then players can be sure that horses will be available when you go to grab one.
Now that the Madrugadian horse is obtainable, it is time to figure out where to find it, how to tame it, and how to personalize its appearance. It is a pretty straightforward process, unlike the more “secret” pieces of content in Far Cry 6, and can be repeated with any other breed of horse while in the correct region to find them.
How to Find and Acquire the Madrugadian Horse in Far Cry 6
After completing the Far Cry 6 quest, fast travel to Armonia, where Juan is located. Once there, check the open fields by the surrounding fence and there should be horses that can be tamed. Madrugadian horses can be found roaming by themselves or in a group, If they aren’t found after a couple of minutes of searching, fast traveling somewhere else, then back to Armonia will reset the spawn and increase your chances of finding one.
Once players have located a horse, or a group of them, tag them with Dani’s cellphone camera so that they are easy to keep an eye on. Then, approach by crouching to make Dani harder to detect (B on Xbox, Circle on Playstation, C on PC). Try to approach the target horse from behind while it is feeding on the grass, and walk up slowly so it isn’t alerted. Finally, mount the horse by holding the interact button (X on Xbox, Square on Playstation, E on PC). Once mounted, take it to the nearest horse station to ensure that it can be accessed later.
Once this is done, the Madrugadian horse can be picked up at any horse station, and the coat can be customized upon pickup. All that is left is to enjoy the beautiful animals in Far Cry 6.
