The Marvel superheroes have joined the Nexus War in Fortnite Season 4, and players can unlock each of them as playable Battle Pass skins. As players level up their Battle Pass and reach different Tiers, they will unlock the basic skins for Thor, She-Hulk, Groot, Storm, Mystique, Dr. Doom, and Tony Stark. Over the course of the season, players can also complete weekly challenges to unlock Wolverine as a playable skin, and they may purchase and download the Silver Surfer set. It’s been rumored in recent weeks that other characters, like Spider-Man, might soon join this extensive lineup.
When players unlock the skin, they still have more work to do to access everything in the character’s set. Some items, like emotes of the characters’ superpowers or special harvesting tools or accessories, can be unlocked by completing Awakening challenges, a set of three tasks related to the character that trigger a few Tiers after the player unlocks the skin. Other items will unlock once players reach certain Battle Pass Tiers. The most notable of these are the different colored costume variations. While some characters, like Thor, Storm, and Mystique, have alternate styles specific to their characters, every basic superhero skin has the capacity for a Gold, Silver, and Holographic costume variant. These are variations players can only unlock by earning enough XP to reach the upper Tiers of the Battle Pass. Here’s how to unlock each of these variants for each superhero skin in Fortnite Season 4.
How to Unlock the Gold, Silver, and Holo Skins in Fortnite Season 4
Like the Enlightened Skins in previous seasons, the Gold Foil, Silver Foil, and HoloFoil skin variants for each Fortnite superhero skin will be unlocked at specific Battle Pass Tiers, with the majority of them unlockable after Tier 100 when players unlock Tony Stark’s Awakening challenges. Here is the level requirement for each character skin, in order of characters unlocked:
Thor
- Silver: Tier 105
- Gold: Tier 145
- Holo: Tier 185
She-Hulk (and Jennifer Walters variant)
- Silver: Tier 110
- Gold: Tier 150
- Holo: Tier 190
Groot
- Silver: Tier 115
- Gold: Tier 155
- Holo: Tier 195
Storm
- Silver: Tier 120
- Gold: Tier 160
- Holo: Tier 200
Dr. Doom
- Silver: Tier 125
- Gold: Tier 165
- Holo: Tier 205
Mystique
- Silver: Tier 130
- Gold: Tier 170
- Holo: Tier 210
Tony Stark (and Iron Man suit variant)
- Silver: Tier 135
- Gold: Tier 175
- Holo: Tier 215
Wolverine
- Silver: Tier 140
- Gold: Tier 180
- Holo: Tier 220 (Last Battle Pass Tier)
As other characters are added, it is possible that they will include similar variants for players to unlock at different Tiers or purchase. Currently, Silver Surfer does not have any of these color variants.
To level up their Battle Passes, players will want to earn as much XP as possible. They can do this each time they play a match or by completing Weekly Challenges and finding XP Coins.
