Warning! Spoilers for Symbiote Spider-Man: Crossroads #5 by Marvel Comics

Marvel Comics just revealed one hero the Hulk is getting tired of being compared to, The Thing. In a brand new preview for Symbiote Spider-Man #5 by Marvel Comics, the Queen of the Norns described the Hulk by calling him “a… thing of some sort.” Naturally, the Hulk believed he was being compared to his longtime frenemy Ben Grimm, which didn’t please the hero at all.

The Hulk and The Thing have a deeply intertwined history in the pages of Marvel Comics. The characters have fought together and against one another, with their first battle happening more than 60 years ago in Fantastic Four #12. Hulk and The Thing are among the strongest in the Marvel Universe and share the connection of being transformed against their will into monster-like creatures. The longtime rivalry between the heroes recently came to a halt when Ben Grimm was instrumental in helping the Hulk return to the Below Place in the final arc of Immortal Hulk. Grimm extended Hulk a helping hand during his most troubled time in a beautiful moment of friendship. However, the Hulk still isn’t a fan of being compared to The Thing.

In a new preview of Symbiote Spider-Man: Crossroads #5 (H/T Adventures In Poor Taste) by Peter David, Greg Land, Jay Leisten, and Frank D’Armata, Karnilla, Queen of the Norns has successfully obtained the Matrix Stone, which controls the Celestial-created Norn Stones. Hulk, Spider-Man, and Ikaris of the Eternals try to stop the supervillain, but Karnilla isn’t impressed with the group of heroes, calling them a “truly pathetic array of challengers.” Furthermore, she calls the Hulk “a… thing of some sort,” which leads to the Jade Giant getting angry, believing she’s comparing him to The Thing.

The Hulk attacks Karnilla, saying he’s “NOT Thing” and that The Thing is a “stupid orange rock guy.” He screams, “I’m Hulk!!!” as he lunges at Karnilla but instantly gets sent flying through the air thanks to the Queen of the Norns’ impressive powers. Ikaris attempts to use his heat blast to stop her, but she laughs as the fire surrounds her. Funny enough, Spider-Man lands the most successful attack, webbing Karnilla’s feet and punching her once she hits the ground.

While the Hulk had the least success in taking down Karnilla among the heroes, the comic shows that an excellent way to get him even angrier is to compare him to The Thing. Unfortunately, Karnilla’s one of the few enemies not worried about accidentally making the Hulk angrier – even unintentionally. Readers can see the Hulk rage about believing he’s been called The Thing in Symbiote Spider-Man: Crossroads #5, which arrives in comic book shops next week.
