When Hunt: Showdown released back in 2018, it arrived with one map. It was a big map, stretching many miles with various rundown buildings in a Louisiana bayou, but it was still just one map, and after several years players are ready to be challenged by something new. Which is exactly what Crytek plans to deliver very soon.
Crytek has just announced plans for a series of updates that will bring a brand new live event after the success of As The Crow Flies. The event will bring new and unique rewards for players to tide them over as future updates prepare for the big one: a brand new map.
The Dark Sight trailer below shows just what this map will have to offer. Unlike Hunt: Showdowns murky bayou, this new map will be a lot drier. It’ll still be in the American South, judging by the plantation-style mansion, and it will feature a train station, a saloon, a graveyard, and a dusty old town.
The official Hunt: Showdown Twitter account has been teasing a few of these locations with old-timey pictographs, which gives the whole map a big Red Dead Redemption 2 vibe. Only with terrifying monsters instead of just gators and cowboys.
Although it’s hard to tell from the abstract imagery, Crytek says there are several Easter eggs to find in the Dark Sight trailer. I can make out what might be two new Native American Legendary Hunters, and one of them seems armed with a bow and arrow. Hunt: Showdown already has a crossbow, but this would be the first time an actual bow makes it into the game.
The chip with the number “5” on it seems to imply five new Legendary Hunters are on the way, and if I had to guess, the other three would include a train conductor and a butcher.
Crytek didn’t provide specifics on when the new live event will arrive or the new map, just leaving things at “soon,” so keep an eye out.
