Immortals will kick off the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2020 Summer Split without star jungler Jake “Xmithie” Puchero, the organization revealed yesterday. Taking his place on the starting roster is former Immortals Academy jungler Nicholas “Potluck” Pollock, who will remain with the team for at least the opening week. Immortals will make their LCS Summer Split debut this Saturday, June 13th.

Jake “Xmithie” Puchero re-joined Immortals ahead of the 2020 Spring Split, returning to the organization after a two-year tenure with Team Liquid. Prior to his Immortals return, Xmithie had made his name as one of the most consistent junglers in the North American region. Under the Team Liquid banner, Xmithie won four consecutive LCS titles, placed second at the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, and finished 9-12th at both the 2018 and 2019 World Championships.

The 2020 Spring Split didn’t bring the same success, as Immortals suffered late losses to 100 Thieves, FlyQuest, and Dignitas. While securing wins over Team Liquid, Team SoloMid, and CLG, Immortals finished the regular season in eighth place, missing out on a spot in the play-offs.

The offseason following the 2020 Spring Split brought many exciting changes. As the offseason nears its end, Immortals have thrown another unexpected roster change into the mix. While Xmithie remains one of the most reliable junglers in the league, he will not be playing with Immortals in week one of the LCS Summer Split.

Filling the jungle vacancy on Immortals’ starting lineup is 21-year-old Nicholas “Potluck” Pollock, who last played for Immortals Academy. Potluck has previously represented Golden Guardians Academy, and worked as a coach with Golden Guardians’ Academy and LCS rosters. He will be making his LCS player debut this weekend.

Immortals General Manager Keaton Cryer and Head Coach Thomas “Zaboutine” Si-Hassen discussed the change in a video on Immortals’ YouTube channel. The two outlined the team’s efforts to find the best possible mix between the Immortals LCS and Academy teams, eventually settling on this lineup for week one. There is still a possibility that the starting roster will change in future weeks.

The 2020 LCS Summer Split kicks off with Friday Night League on June 12th. Immortals will take on FlyQuest in their opening match-up on Saturday, June 13th.
