With player complaints mounting, Call of Duty: Warzone developer Infinity Ward has finally responded to the massive wave of cheating that threatens to topple their battle royale game.

Call of Duty: Warzone has gone bad–particularly on PC. Players are reporting that they can’t go a single game without matching with at least one cheater using aimbots, wallhacks, and other unauthorized software to get an extra advantage over their opponents. The Warzone subreddit has become a non-stop death replay exposing hacker after hacker, and Warzone developer Infinity Ward remained suspiciously silent throughout all of it.

Until today. Infinity Ward has issued a statement on their Twitter account promising players that another ban wave is coming to combat the problem of rampant cheating.

“Cheating will not be tolerated,” wrote Infinity Ward. “More banwaves are coming. If you receive a ban it is for unauthorized manipulation of game data. Don’t fall for unscrupulous services offering cheats and modifications, these are fraudulent.”

It seems that Infinity Ward thinks that cheaters are sometimes duped into using hacks, which is just utterly bizarre. I don’t think there’s a single hacker on the planet that doesn’t understand that they’re cheating to win in a video game–that’s sort of the point.

But just in case, Infinity Ward provides us all with a list of what can’t be used in conjunction with Warzone. “Unauthorized 3rd party software includes, but is not limited to, aimbots, wallhackers, trainers, stats hacks, texture hacks, leaderboard hacks, injectors, hex editors, or any software used to deliberately modify game data or memory. Don’t do it. This may result in being banned.”

However, players are skeptical of the announcement. It’s been several months since Infinity Ward last addressed the issue of cheating, and since then the problem has only gotten worse. It’s gotten to the point that some console players are disabling PC crossplay in order to avoid coming across hackers.

Infinity Ward didn’t provide any details on when the next ban wave will come, but for most players, it can’t come soon enough.
