Norman Osborn’s Green Goblin will return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but could one of Harry Osborn’s previous iterations of the Goblin come back as well? Villains from across the multiverse will invade the MCU in Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man outing, and the alternate universe villains shown in both of No Way Home’s trailers might only be scratching the surface of who shows up in the movie. There have been two live-action iterations of Norman Osborn’s son, Harry, and each became a Halloween-themed villain in their respective universes.

Perhaps more than any other Spider-Man villain, Norman Osborn is the one most worthy of being called the web-slinger’s arch-nemesis. As the crazed and sadistic Green Goblin, Norman is Peter Parker’s most challenging enemy, and Willem Dafoe’s chilling performance as the cackling maniac was a perfect representation of the classic Marvel villain—especially for its era. Harry was also a major part of Sam Raimi’s original comic book movies, played by a young James Franco, starting out as Peter Parker’s best friend before turning into the New Goblin in the critically panned Spider-Man 3. Harry was played by Dane DeHaan in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and was responsible for the death of that universe’s Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).

There are several shots of Dafoe’s Green Goblin in No Way Home’s second trailer, with one lingering on the fully-armored villain. One particular moment may confuse viewers, however. At roughly two minutes and ten seconds into the trailer, a Green Goblin-like figure, surrounded by flying devices, soars towards the camera against the backdrop of a full moon. The figure isn’t wearing a mask and might appear similar to one of the two versions of Harry Osborn seen in live-action, but it’s most likely another scene of Norman’s Goblin—possibly with new, modified gear—based on a few specific details.

Harry Osborn’s New Goblin used a different costume and equipment from Norman in Spider-Man 3. While the Green Goblin’s signature pumpkin bombs remained in the New Goblin’s arsenal, Harry replaced the glider with a newer model called the Sky Stick. The Goblin shown in the No Way Home trailer is still using the familiar bat-like glider, albeit with green lights instead of the blue ones used in the 2002 film. The New Goblin used razor bats like Norman, but his models were different, using fixed wings, as opposed to Norman’s, which had rotating blades.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Harry Osborn, who became the Green Goblin in the film’s third act, also used a noticeably different glider from Willem Dafoe’s Raimi trilogy iteration, and though Harry’s glider featured green lights, the one shown in the trailer more closely resembles the shape of Norman’s vehicle. Harry briefly uses a razor bat in the film but wields it like a dagger against Spider-Man. Interesting enough, however, the devices flying alongside the mysterious Goblin in the trailer are the same ones from Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie.

More than likely, the only Goblin in No Way Home’s second trailer is Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, but this doesn’t mean that one or both versions of Harry Osborn can’t show up too. The film is expected to be the epic conclusion to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Homecoming series and a film that honors the previous two franchises, so there may be more multiverse Spider-Man villains and even the previous two iterations of Spider-Man himself. While Spider-Man: No Way Home’s second trailer would appear to only feature Norman, a version of Harry could still end up appearing in the highly anticipated film.
