She may be best known for the insanely gory remake of Evil Dead but here’s where else you might recognize actress Jane Levy. Starting strong out of the gate, Jane Levy made his acting debut during the first season of Showtime’s Shameless as recurring character Mandy Milkovich. While the character would continue to later seasons, Levy was replaced by Emma Greenwell from series 2 onwards. That’s because Jane Levy landed a lead role on ABC sitcom Suburgatory, which debuted in 2011. While the show received positive reviews it didn’t break out in a major way and was canceled after three seasons.

Outside of TV, Jane Levy appeared in movies like 2012’s Nobody Walks with John Krasinski and teen comedy Fun Size. Horror fans will know her best from 2013’s Evil Dead, where she inherited the chainsaw from series icon Bruce Campbell. The remake had a lot to live up to, but it was an impressively ferocious update that honored the original while dropping gallons of gore – most of which lands on Levy’s Mia. The actress left an impression with the role, but despite reports she might return for a follow-up pairing her with Campbell’s Ash, it seems she won’t be returning to the franchise as its being rebooted again for the upcoming Evil Dead Now.

Jane Levy jumped from movie to TV projects in the years that followed, including oddball musical Bang Bang Baby and appearances on Kroll Show and Peter Stormare sitcom Swedish Dicks. In 2016 she reunited with Evil Dead director Fede Álvarez for thriller Don’t Breathe, where three thieves make the mistake of breaking into the home of a blind man (Stephen Lang), who soon turns the tables on them. The movie received solid reviews for its tense setpieces and atmosphere, though it also attracted controversy for the now infamous turkey baster sequence; Levy later admitted she agreed with some of the backlash over this scene.

Jane Levy also co-starred with Lucas Till in big-budget children’s movie Monster Trucks in 2016, which was a box-office dud. In 2017 Levy made a small cameo during episode 5 of Twin Peaks: The Return and co-starred in the blackly comic thriller I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore. In 2018 she appeared in Castle Rock, a Hulu series that’s a giant mashup of characters and settings from the works of Stephen King. Levy played Jackie Torrance during the first season, the niece of The Shining’s Jack.

Jane Levy’s most recent work includes a main role on Netflix’s What/If alongside Renée Zellweger, and she currently plays the title role on NBC’s musical sitcom Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. The show was a hit with critics and viewers alike and a second season was confirmed in June 2020.
