Every so often, there’s an indie film that just brims with talent. 2014’s About Alex is right up that alley. The cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Nate Parker, Maggie Grace, Jason Ritter, Max Greenfield, and Max Minghella, along with Jane Levy, of course.

About Alex centers on a bunch of old college buddies who come together when one of them (Ritter) attempts to commit suicide. Levy plays Kate, the girlfriend to a member of the group who doesn’t know anyone else but happens to work at a suicide hotline. The film was praised for the casting choices and the way it handled the subject matter.

9 Evil Dead (6.5)

Remaking a classic can be a daunting task. The original Evil Dead is held in high regard as one of the greatest horror films of all time. The 2013 version, directed by Fede Álvarez, had a lot to live up to but it more than accomplished that goal. It marked Jane Levy’s first starring film role.

She is Mia Allen, a heroin abuser brought to a remote cabin with her friends to get over her addiction. Their weekend is turned upside-down when demons are summoned and begin to go after them. Levy’s performance was acclaimed as was the use of practical effects. It was terrifying, gory, and entertaining.

In 2017, Jane Levy got the opportunity to work with some impressive veteran actors in I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore. She starred alongside Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood. This film follows a woman (Lynskey) who travels with her neighbor (Wood) to track down the thieves who robbed her.

Levy enters the story of this one quite late. She portrays Dez, a woman who is helps take the lead character prisoner. A lot of viewers enjoyed the interesting, unique, and dark tale that this story weaved.

7 Sea Oak (7.1)

If you’ve never heard of Sea Oak, don’t worry as that’s to be expected. It was a relatively small, Amazon TV pilot that came out in late 2017. Although it’s not a particularly famous production, it boasted an impressive array of talent up and down the cast.

Legendary actor Glenn Close plays the lead, a woman named Bernie to comes back from the dead. She was lonely in life and returned to do things she missed out on. The rest of the cast included Jane Levy as Min, Jack Quaid, and James Van Der Beek. It doesn’t have many reviews but they’re mostly positive.

6 Don’t Breathe (7.1)

After finding success together with 2013’s Evil Dead, director Fede Álvarez and Jane Levy came back together for another horror flick. 2016’s Don’t Breathe centered on three young thieves who attempt to rob a blind man because they think it’ll be an easy score.

It turns out that the blind man is violent and evil, which turns the story around as the thieves become the victims. Levy (Rocky) delivered another tremendous “final girl” performance, with Dylan Minnette also putting in quality work alongside her. Don’t Breathe became a sleeper hit, grossing $157.1 million on a $9.9 million budget.

5 There’s… Johnny! (7.2)

Sometimes, a show is only around for a short period of time but it’s still really good. That seemed to be the case with 2017’s There’s… Johnny! It was a web series released on the streaming service known as Seeso. Unfortunately, that service wasn’t around long.

Their highlight was this series, which takes place during the 1970s and tells a fictional variation of what went on behind-the-scenes at The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Levy played Joy Greenfield, a talent coordinator on the show. Though it was canceled when Seeso folded, Hulu acquired the rights and it can be streamed there.

A lot of people first learned about who Jane Levy is through Suburgatory. This was the first starring role of her career, being given the chance to head up a sitcom on the ABC Network. Suburgatory saw a single dad (Jeremy Sisto) move to the suburbs with his teenage daughter Tessa (Levy).

The cast included André Holland, Bill Skarsgärd, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, and Jane Levy. Levy took on the role of Diane Torrance, a writer who has an encyclopedic knowledge of the small town. It was another indication of how good Levy is in the horror setting.

The latest entry in Jane Levy’s filmography is nearly her best. The premise for this series sounds incredibly wacky on paper. After an accident in an MRI, a woman gains the ability to hear people’s inner thoughts in the form of flashy musical numbers. Yet, it worked incredibly well.

Levy is the lead (Zoey) and she stunned viewers with her singing abilities. The show delivered great comedy, wonderful music, and emotional beats that made everyone cry. There’s serious talk about Levy and the series being up for an Emmy.

1 Shameless (8.6)

Technically, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is the best work of Levy’s career. That’s because the highest-rated thing she’s starred in, Shameless, saw her only stick around for the first season. She took on the role of Mandy Milkovich for a total of five episodes.

Mandy went on to play a pivotal role, engaging in a relationship with one of the main characters. However, Levy left the show after that first season to star on Suburgatory. The role was recast for Emma Greenwell, who remained with the show for several seasons.
