The Pokemon Company is announcing its upcoming lineup of Pokemon: Trading Card Game products in a special livestream event this weekend. While it’s not known exactly what is being announced, it’s likely to give some clues about where both the Japanese and English-language games are going in the next few months.

This is the first time in a long time that The Pokemon Company has held an event specifically to announce products, as it usually incorporates them into organised play events like the Japan Championships (where its last stream was hosted from). This suggests that there could be some significant news incoming. It’s likely that the event will discuss the upcoming 25th Anniversary Collection as well as December’s premium collectable-focused set (like Hidden and Shining Fates), VMAX Climax.

On top of this, there’s also a chance that more will be said about this month’s upcoming Fusion Arts expansion, or even next year’s Star Birth, especially as the latter is introducing its VSTAR Pokemon, a major shakeup after a year dominated by VMAX cards. However, with the timing of those respectively very close and quite far, any mentions of either of them will likely be brief.

The stream will be held on the official Japanese Pokemon TCG channel on September 12 at 7pm Japanese time (11:00 UTC). It hasn’t been confirmed how long the stream will last, nor has any clue been given as to what exactly will be announced. As PokeBeach notes, the fact they are hosting an event out of the blue suggests that there could be more than what is expected.

This stream is specifically for Japanese, Korean and Chinese products, which differ slightly from those released in other regions. It will still be an interesting watch for international players though, as the Japanese game guides where other editions of the game go over the following months. For example, the recent Evolving Skies was taken from three different Japanese releases: Skyscraping Perfection, Blue Sky Stream and Eevee Heroes, while Fusion Arts in Japan will become Fusion Strike for others in November. New mechanics, powerful cards and valuable pulls are all first noticed in the Japanese game, making paying attention to it worthwhile.
