John Krasinski fully becomes the MCU’s Reed Richards in this Fantastic Four fan art. Despite being one of Marvel’s most well-known properties, the Fantastic Four has struggled to make an impact on the big screen. The initial 2005 and 2007 offerings directed by Tim Story were met with decidedly mixed receptions, but the 2015 reboot from Josh Trank proved to be an even poorer adaptation. It’s no surprise fans were relieved when, following the Disney-Fox merger, the Fantastic Four’s rights returned to Marvel Studios. MCU mastermind Kevin Feige confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 that the Fantastic Four will join the franchise in the future, thus fueling fans’ excitement.

So far, Marvel hasn’t cast anyone for their Fantastic Four, but fans certainly have a good idea about who should play Reed Richards. Krasinski, best known for playing Jim Halpert on The Office, has long been fans’ top pick for Mr. Fantastic. In the years since The Office came to an end, Krasinski has proven his skill as an action hero through the Amazon series Jack Ryan, and he’s shown he can handle more dramatic projects like A Quiet Place, which he also directed.

The hype for Krasinski as Reed continues to grow, with this latest piece of fan art making a really good case for why the actor should get the part. Digital artist Yadvender Singh Rana has depicted Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic, with the iconic blue suit and superhuman elasticity included. A fun detail is the “4” symbol on his shoulder, which is in the same style as the Avengers logo within the MCU. Check out the piece down below.

Few days back, a deepfake video of @johnkrasinski As captain america, went viral on the internet. I gotta say, he looked the part. But I’d rather have him as Mr. Fantastic in the MCU. On that note, @marvelstudios When are y’all making this official? It’s about damn time. . For his part, Krasinski first expressed interest in playing Mr. Fantastic back in 2018, and that interest has stretched well into this year. Krasinski commented on the possibility multiple times in recent months, concluding that he trusts Marvel to cast him if he’s a good fit. Based on the many pieces of fan art of him as Reed Richards, including the one above, it’s safe to say he would be a solid addition to the MCU. Krasinski nearly joined the franchise as Captain America years ago, but the part went to Chris Evans instead. Mr. Fantastic could be his way in.

All this goodwill towards Krasinski’s possible casting doesn’t mean he’s without competition, however. Tenet star John David Washington recently expressed interest in the part as well, and he could also be a good pick for the part. Casting for the MCU’s Fantastic Four might still be a ways off, but the debate over who should be Reed is already heating up. Only time will tell who wins out, but Krasinski has several years’ worth of support backing him up. If fans get their way, he just might nab the part.
