Jurassic Park Should Get a Pokémon SnapStyle Game

After more than 20 years, Pokémon Snap is finally making a comeback. The original Nintendo 64 game became an instant cult classic when it first released in 1999. Video game fans loved how they could travel through the wild snapping awesome pictures of their favorite Pokémon. With Pokémon Snap becoming an instant hit, it’s surprising more video games didn’t jump into the photography genre. There are tons of franchises that could utilize Pokémon Snap’s format well, but a Jurassic Park photography game seems like it would be a perfect addition to the genre.

Jurassic Park games have been around ever since the original film came out in 1993. Gamers have seen Jurassic Park shooters, park builders and even fighting games. It seems like the beloved franchise has hit every video game genre there is except the photography genre.

There have been some photography aspects in a few Jurassic Park games, but it’s never been the main focus. Many video game fans agree that it’s about time Jurassic Park got a Pokémon Snap-style game.

Jurassic Park Should Get a Pokémon SnapStyle Game

The Jurassic Park franchise is known for its realistic depiction of dinosaurs (at least in terms of visuals) and its reclusive, beautiful setting. Most Jurassic Park games revolve around shooting dinosaurs and trying to escape the island. If developers toned down the violence and took a calmer approach like many of the Jurassic Park builders, it could lead to a wonderful photography game.

The game could play like a rail shooter, with players traveling down a fixed path taking pictures of different types of dinosaurs and earning points for awesome photos. Pokémon Snap is just a rail shooter with a camera instead of a gun. There have been plenty of Jurassic Park rail shooters, so the groundwork is already there. Developers just need to make a few tweaks to make these into an electrifying photography game.

Graphics have come a long way since Jurassic Park first appeared on video game consoles. Dinosaurs look more realistic now than ever before. While the Pokémon games tend to have more cartoon-like graphics, Jurassic Park titles usually have hyper-realistic visuals A Jurassic Park photography game could allow developers to add even more detail to all the prehistoric animals than in previous games.

Titles like Jurassic World Evolution really brought the dinosaurs to life. If developers could take the details of Jurassic World Evolution and morph it into a photography game while upgrading the graphics, it could lead to an amazing visual experience.

Jurassic Park has a bit more grit than the Pokémon franchise. Pokémon tend to be cute and cuddly, while the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park have more of a vicious and dangerous vibe.

Therefore, a Jurassic Park photography game could bring in a more mature audience. Gearing a game towards a more mature demographic doesn’t always mean it has to be blood-soaked and violent. Sometimes, having a more realistic experience is enough to capture an older fanbase. A lot of older gamers don’t want cartoony graphics with a family-friendly plot. Some just want a realistic experience with more complicated gameplay.

There really isn’t a better franchise fit for a photography game than Jurassic Park.
