7 Adding Chaos Theory Mode

Jurassic Park games rarely seem to connect to the cinematic movies we still watch today. However, Chaos Theory mode gives you a chance to play through some of the best moments we’ve only seen on the big screen, correcting all the mistakes and wrong turns you were shouting at your screen for.

The warning that appears when you open Chaos Theory mode explains it all, ”we recommend starting with campaign mode”. Only players who know what they’re doing should apply otherwise you’ll find yourself in even deeper water than the actors. Having the experience to manage regular creatures is key because the movies start bringing out the hybrids that are more delicate to handle.

6 Shrinking The Dinosaurs

In both the movies and the previous Evolution title, dinosaurs were blown up in size for dramatic effect. However, the sequel has scaled down all the dinosaurs to more accurately represent their size. While many of the giants have been knocked down a few pegs, it has evened the playing field in this more combative environment, giving the smaller dinosaurs a chance to work in groups.

The smaller sizes also drop the extreme requirements, from food to space, you as a manager will have a much easier time at the helm. Luckily, Evolution 2 provides some sprawling landscapes, giving you enough room to create even more ecosystems and attract the maximum number of visitors to your park.

5 Adding New Dinosaurs

The difference that everyone cares about most, over 30 new species of dinosaurs can now be found throughout the game. The biggest addition is the lineup of marine dinosaurs you can now access, opening up lagoon enclosures and more effective habitats for your dinosaurs. The expanded library also gives you more to do in every game mode, diving deep into the research tab to unlock every species.

Flying dinosaurs will also become more involved, being fully functional instead of background decoration. The more moving pieces, the more complex the simulation gets so even though it’s tempting to get a little trigger happy, every new species has to be placed and integrated with a plan. Upsetting the balance of an ecosystem comes with devastating consequences for both the dinosaurs and your profits.

4 More Chaotic Combat

Dinosaur behavior is a change that gets slid under the rug but impacts the gameplay in a massive way, turning the dynamic from one-off fights to an ever-changing flow of combat. Apex predators can’t walk around without a care in the world anymore, as large groups of lesser dinosaurs will come together and take them down.

Combat isn’t even limited to different species anymore, dinosaurs from the same species can attack if they’re in the wrong place at the wrong time. Food supply is a big factor, and starving specimens are the most likely to attack their own and turn into cannibals. Park management has now become a matter of life and death for your dinosaurs, keeping everyone fed and separated is essential.

3 Territories And Biomes

While the original game was set in Isla Nubar, Evolution 2 takes place across the United States, giving you a wide range of environments to choose from. Previously you’d have to decide between what kind of enclosure you wanted, but here the options open up to include different weather systems. From freezing snow to barren desert, the wide variety of dinosaurs will always find a place they feel comfortable.

This also means a unique set of challenges that you’ll have to deal with as they come up, as not every species can thrive in the chaotic spread of settings. Catering to their needs and making sure they aren’t overcome with the extreme conditions is one of the most complex parts of the game, requiring a strategic mind and knowledge of your equipment.

2 Much-Loved Cast Members In The Narration

This time around the series got a hold of some of the prominent actors that played throughout Jurassic Park’s long run. Jeff Goldblum being the most iconic feature voices his own character, reprising the role after his recent appearance in Lost Kingdom. Bryce Dallas Howard also makes an appearance, adding more star power to the game’s narration.

BD Wong also came back to take up his role as the meddlesome doctor that started this mess all those years ago, bringing a sense of nostalgia and legitimacy to the game. Running through the list of Jurassic Park legends gives fans what they want, cool extras to go alongside the simulation gameplay. Breathing life into an already loved simulation takes Evolution to the next level.

1 A Brand New Campaign

Instead of simply throwing you in the middle of a business venture, Evolution 2 puts you in charge of a rescue mission. Taking place directly after the events of Fallen Kingdom, you have to find and conserve the free-roaming dinosaurs that have broken free of their prison. Instead of focusing primarily on money, this game at least gives you a good reason to gather up the dinosaurs.

You don’t have to focus on the bright stage and bringing in customers anymore, your main focus is making sure the dinosaurs survive and keeping them alive. While it isn’t quite as exciting as the previous campaign, this one comes with real consequences and gives you a relaxing experience in contrast to the first title. You also get to be more hands-on with vehicles in a new way.
