The PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller is likely to have a lot more battery power than the PS4’s DualShock 4, according to a leaker.

The new Sony console is set to launch this holiday season and the electronics powerhouse has provided quite a bit of insight as it relates to the system’s hardware specs. The controller, for one, looks quite impressive, although the design might not be for everyone.

Said leaker, who claims to work for a company that “designs and provides accessories for console manufactures such as Sony and Microsoft,” made the revelation via Twitter with images of the unreleased controller.

The image points to a battery capacity of 1,560 mAh, which nearly doubles the original DS4’s 800mAh. Versions that followed boasted 1,000 mAh and are good for four to eight hours of gameplay. Based on pure mathematics the DualSense could give gamers 10-12 hours of straight gameplay when fully charged but that’s also contingent on the device’s power consumption. In any case, we would expect the DualSense to trump the DS4 when it comes to longevity.

Sony has also claimed to have taken “strong consideration” as it pertains to battery life, which is indicative of the PS5 controller outworking the PS4’s in that department. It’s pretty safe to assume such a piece of hardware would contain a battery allowing for longer gameplay than its predecessor.

The leaker says the buttons on the DualSense present better ergonomics. He adds “the triggers inside mechanical structures seem very complex, I think,” but claims the analog sticks feel the same as they do on the PS4’s controller, which he says has great compatibility as data protocols via PC revealed many similarities.

The official photos of the controller to have come out so far have all been black and white but, about a week ago, images of a completely black variant leaked online. It’s worth noting that said pics could have been taken prior to Sony to finalizing the DualSense’s design.
