The Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode took the team’s newest recruits on a trip to the past, with many former Legends along for the ride.

The Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode cameos featured the return of several characters, old friends and foes alike. These blasts from the past came in the form of living flashbacks, as a party made up of the newest Legends made their way through a psychic landscape. This landscape was made from the memories of Gideon, the artificial intelligence on the Legends’ time-ship, the Waverider, and the only member of the first Legends team still in the series besides Captain Sara Lance.

The central plot of Legends of Tomorrow season 7 found the time-traveling heroes stranded in Odessa, Texas in the year 1925, after the Waverider was destroyed following their battle to save the mystic Fountain of Imperium. Most of the team traveled to New York City in search of Dr. Gwyn Davies, a scientist of that era who was said to be the first to discover the secrets of time travel, leaving behind sorceress Astra Logue (who had injured herself with a spell meant to repair the Waverider) and Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz, who had a strange form of telepathy that only worked on aliens. They were soon joined by a human version of Gideon, who had apparently been born as a side effect of Astra’s spell.

As the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode opened, the three newest Legends were rushing to New York City as well, as the human version of Gideon claimed the other Legends would die unless they got to Dr. Davies first. Unfortunately, Gideon was unused to operating with a physical form and tended to pass out whenever she was faced with things her brain couldn’t cope with. This led to a magical journey into Gideon’s mind and her memories of her time among the Legends of Tomorrow, with a number of cameos by returning guest characters, as the trio were harassed by a new evil version of Gideon who wanted to destroy her memories.

Bishop

A brilliant but amoral scientist from the 23rd century who planned to breed an alien-human hybrid race using Sara Lance’s DNA, Bishop was the chief villain of Legends of Tomorrow season 6. Bishop met a messy end in the season 6 finale, shortly after his younger self was recruited by the Legends to outsmart his future self. The Legends erased the young Bishop’s memories of his time with them, but the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode revealed that the younger Bishop had stolen one of Gideon’s hard drives before his memory was erased. A scene set in Vancouver 2213 revealed that the younger Bishop was able to reverse engineer Gideon’s code from the drive and used it to create an evil Gideon devoted to destroying the Legends.

Jefferson “Jax” Jackson

One of the original founding Legends of Tomorrow and the physical half of Firestorm following the death of Robbie Amell’s Ronnie Raymond on The Flash, Jefferson “Jax” Jackson was a brilliant mechanic who quickly adapted his knowledge of classic cars to maintaining the Waverider and Gideon’s computer systems. This was why one of Gideon’s memories of Jax took on the role of Gideon’s protector, as the evil Gideon began deleting the memories of the original Gideon. The real Jax left the Legends following the death of Professor Martin Stein and reportedly went on to get married and had a daughter, whom he named Martina. The original Jax was last seen in the Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale, “The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly,” where he briefly rejoined the team to help fight the time demon Mallus.

Dr. Ray Palmer/The Atom

Originally an ally of Team Arrow and a would-be suitor of Felicity Smoak, scientist Ray Palmer attempted to use his inventive genius to fight crime and make the world a better place even before he became one of the first Legends of Tomorrow. Ray showed up in several of Gideon’s happiest memories during the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode. The real Ray Palmer was last seen in the Legends of Tomorrow season 5 episode “Romeo V. Juliet: Dawn of Justness,” where he and his new wife Nora Darhk left the Waverider to build a new life together somewhere else. Nothing has been revealed of what Ray has been up to since then, but he has been confirmed to be returning to the Arrowverse in The Flash season 8 Armageddon event.

Len Snart/Captain Cold

A gifted thief famed for his cool professionalism, Len Snart became more dangerous than ever after acquiring a special cold gun designed to disable The Flash by slowing molecular motion, instantly freezing objects to Absolute Zero. Known as Captain Cold, Snart was an unlikely hero, even on his best days. Despite this, he still joined the Legends of Tomorrow and sacrificed himself to free humanity from the grip of the Time Masters in the penultimate episode of Legends of Tomorrow’s season 1, “Destiny.” Several variants of Snart have appeared since then, including a younger version of Snart who had yet to reform, his Earth-X doppelganger Citizen Cold) and, in what was the best cameo in Crisis on Infinite Earths, an artificial intelligence from Earth-74. However, it’s only the original Captain Cold who appears in the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode, in two of Gideon’s memories from the early days of the Legends’ formation.

Carter Hall/Hawkman

Originally the Ancient Egyptian prince Khufu, Carter Hall was cursed to be continually reincarnated until he could kill the immortal known as Vandal Savage. One of the founding Legends of Tomorrow, Hawkman finally accomplished his eternal quest with the help of his teammates and left the team in Legends of Tomorrow’s season 1 finale, “Legendary.” He appears in some of Gideon’s earliest memories in the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode, arguing with Captain Cold and nearly starting a fight.

Professor Martin Stein

The brains behind Firestorm, Professor Martin Stein was forever changed by his time on the Waverider. A bookish and repressed academic for most of his life, Stein discovered adventures he had only dreamed of while traveling through time as one of the founding Legends of Tomorrow. Stein died a hero’s death during the Crisis on Earth-X event, sacrificing himself to open a portal back to Earth-1 for all the other heroes who were trapped on Earth-X. Stein’s cameo in the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode came in a memory where the professor, in an uncharacteristically jovial moment, sang a duet with Gideon.

Captain Rip Hunter

Originally a member of the Time Masters, who protected the timeline from various threats, Captain Rip Hunter founded the Legends to prevent the immortal world-conqueror Vandal Savage from killing his wife and son. Rip Hunter died a hero’s death in the Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale, “The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly,” sacrificing himself to buy the rest of the Legends time to assemble the Totems of Zambesi and destroy the time demon Mallus. His appearance in the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode comes in a flashback to the time of the first episode, where Rip Hunter sadly informs the Legends that despite all the advanced technology the Waverider employs, it only has a single bathroom which they will all have to share.

Beebo

First appearing in the Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode “Beebo the God of War,” Cuddle Me Beebo was the hottest toy of 1992 and, for a time, a god worshipped by the first Vikings to colonize North America. The cuddly Beebo quickly became an Arrowverse fan-favorite and has made numerous cameos since then. Perhaps the most notable of these cameos came during Crisis on Infinite Earths, where Team Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, Batwoman and the Legends teamed up to stop a giant Beebo from destroying Star City. Beebo briefly appears in the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode in the scene where Astra and Spooner have to fight their way through memories of the other Legends, who were corrupted by the Evil Gideon. Astra conjured a random object to trip the memory of Sara Lance and the random object turned out to be a Beebo doll.

Norak Darhk

The daughter of sorcerer and supervillain Damien Darhk, Nora Darhk was raised to be a vessel for the time demon Mallus following her father’s first death. With the help of Ray Palmer, Nora was able to find redemption and she eventually turned away from dark magic to become a fairy godmother. Nora and Ray left Legends of Tomorrow in the season 5 episode “Romeo V. Juliet: Dawn of Justness,” shortly after getting married, because life on a time ship didn’t work well with Nora’s schedule. Nora’s cameo in the Legends of Tomorrow 100th episode came during a flashback to one of Gideon’s happiest memories. Nora was seen serving candy from a cauldron at a massive party the Legends threw to celebrate all the major holidays at once, since they never had the chance to keep track of the calendar while traveling through time.
