Following the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the newest trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which boasts incredible visuals from Episodes I-IX. Developer TT games seek to impress players with new visual improvements after the games first launched over fifteen years ago. It also makes each area and episode feel more open to exploration and less bound by some of the linear stories of previous games.
Recent gameplay footage at E3 and early previews look extremely promising. Whereas some of the more recent titles have forced played into a streamlined, linear story, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga features a far more open world which allows players to go wherever they please. Players will be able to select campaigns from all nine episodes and are not restricted to any order. Players will also be able to select notable locations from a map on a planet, with several options providing players with many places to begin.
According to TT Games, the game will also feature “every Star Wars character you can think of” as a playable option. Considering that there are so many characters within the series, we will have to see this to believe it. However, the sentiment is at least a good sign of things to come.
Each scene shown in the trailer above from Episode I-IX looks like a major improvement from the previous installments. Combined with the newest trilogy of movies and TT Games’ commitment to make each experience feel far more narrative-driven while still giving players choice on how to proceed, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga looks like it will be a hit with all Star Wars fans.
The game will be released in 2020, which is a shame because it feels like it would have been the perfect tie in to coincide with the recent release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One at some point in 2020.
