The Los Angeles Gladiators bolstered up their tank line this offseason by adding main tank Min-seok “OGE” Son from the Dallas Fuel and off tank Indy “SPACE” Halpern from the intercity rival Valiant. This was a shift in focus for the Gladiators heading into the 2020 season of the Overwatch League. They continue to add depth to the tank line with the most recent announcement of Roni “LhCloudy” Tiihonen joining the fray.

LhCloudy was one of the main tanks for the Paris Eternal during the 2019 season but was released in October following a disappointing year for the Euro-based team. LhCloudy was a casualty during the Eternal’s rebuilding process this offseason. He played on Team Finland for the Overwatch World Cup this year, but after a quick exit in the preliminaries (and his release), Cloudy’s year of professional Overwatch was coming to a disastrous close. Luckily, LhCloudy buys himself some more time in the Overwatch League after signing with the Gladiators.

Even though LhCloudy has signed with a team, the Gladiators made moves to acquire OGE this offseason as their starting main tank going forward. Couple that with Byung-ho “Panker” Lee as another main tank on the roster and it seems like LhCloudy won’t be seeing much of the stage in the 2020 season. He could possibly grace the stage a bit, but will more than likely find himself riding the bench for most of the year.

The Los Angeles Gladiators have five tanks on their roster at this point in the offseason. With three main tanks and two off tanks, they have a significant amount of depth to the line, but should be looking to add another DPS player to their roster. They only have two damage dealers signed for the 2020 season at the moment. In 2019, the Gladiators focused on their DPS players when the 2-2-2 role lock was implemented. Looking forward, though, they seem to have shifted their focus towards the tank line and bringing in LhCloudy adds more depth even if he won’t be seeing the stage very often.
