Notorious Twitch streamer Ludwig has managed to break Ninja’s world record of subscribers on the last day of his self-proclaimed “subathon”. Ludwig has been the subject of many headlines over the last few weeks during his 31 day stream and just as the ride was about to end, he managed to end up in the news once again.
Ludwig’s Twitch stream nearly ended in a rather anticlimactic way after the stream timer went as low as 1 second, but a viewer saved the stream by gifting a handful of subscriptions to other chat members to keep the momentum alive. Some members of the chat rejoiced as it meant the party got to keep going, while others groaned in annoyance, hoping to see the stream come to a conclusion. While there’s likely enough buzz to keep the subathon alive for a while longer, the streamer himself can only take so much, and today is the final day of Ludwig’s Twitch stream
Ludwig had set an ambitious subscriber count goal that he wanted to meet by the end of his stream and he finally achieved it. Ludwig announced that today was the last day of his subathon in advance and told fans that he would be donating all of the revenue from the final day’s subscriptions to charity, which seems to have helped him reach his goal of dethroning Ninja as the most-subbed Twitch streamer. At the time of writing, Ludwig has over 269,853 subscribers, which is 699 more than Ninja. This means that Ludwig is essentially the most popular (and potentially highest earning) Twitch streamer.

It’s not really a surprise that Ludwig actually managed to beat Ninja. The Twitch streamer’s rapid rise has been one of the most widely discussed things in the streaming world for the last month and will likely be a historic event for the platform. Ludwig’s stream has been full of rather incredible moments, which means that the subscribers who contributed to keeping the stream alive have definitely gotten their money’s worth.
At one point, Ludwig saved his stream from ending by matching all subscriptions given to him in a 10 minute period. Over 4,000 subscriptions were given in that window of time, increasing the timer by roughly a full day. The streamer also invited a polygraph examiner over to his house to ask him questions in front of his friends, causing some hilarious moments between him and the people he lives with. As memorable as this massive stream has been, Ludwig’s subathon will come to a close tonight at 9PM PDT.
