With the premiere of Married at First Sight season 14 less than a month away, fans are curious about who the newest love matches are going to be, and wondering which of the previous pairs stayed together or split. The series’ previous thirteen installments have showcased some memorable love stories, as well as a range of heartbreaking tales. While the odds of building successful relationships are against them, certain duos who have appeared on the Lifetime TV hit series have managed to go the distance.

Fans know that the show is centered on three couples who are set up based on criteria predetermined by a panel of relationship experts. For season 8, the cast increased to four couples, and it was expanded again in season 10, to five couples. While this social experiment can work, the show is renowned for its low success rate, and most pairs who sign on for Married at First Sight understand that a happy ending is never guaranteed. However, some couples do manage to build healthy relationships after their stints on the series. That being said, a lot call it quits.

While the overall success rate is low, the success rate of relationships that continue by the season’s end is surprisingly high. Over thirteen seasons, 49 couples have been married. Of those, 29 (59%) have chosen to stay married in the final Decision Day episode. This is right on par with the national average. However, as of December 2021, only 12 of those 29 are still together, bringing the overall success rate down to just 24%. Still, taking into consideration the fact that all of these couples married at first sight, without knowing a thing about one another prior to their weddings, some Married at First Sight relationships have worked out very well.

Season 13

The popular series’ most recent Decision Day, which ended the season’s Houston run, was the most unpredictable, with two of the five couples being split in their decision to stay married. Only two couples, perfectionist Jose San Miguel Jr. and Rachel Gordillo (who is known for her frugality) and Myrla Feria and Gil Cuero both agreed to stay together after their 8-week run. Despite the season having been filmed a year ago, both couples have since split, leaving the success rate for season 13 at a disappointing 0%.

Season 12

Season 13, which took place in Atlanta, fared only slightly better, with three of the five couples recommitting in the finale. They were Briana Myles and Vincent Morales, Clara Berghaus and Ryan Oubré, and Virginia Coombs and Erik Lake. Sadly, Virginia & Erik ended their marriage in the early summer of 2021. Ryan and Clara then announced their split on July 12 of this year. Briana and Vincent remain the last couple standing from their season.

Season 11

Based on the couples that reaffirmed their marriage on Decision Day, this New Orleans-based season boasts a higher success rate, with 66.6% of its pairs still together. Despite post-show troubles, season 11’s Karen Landry & Miles Williams were able to work things out and now host their own YouTube channel at Miles and Karen. Amani Aliyya and Woody Randall are also still happily in love. Amelia Fatsi and Bennett Kirschner, unfortunately, called it quits just last month.

Season 10

MAFS The Couples That Stayed Together (& The Ones That Broke Up)

Season 10 was the first season to add a fifth couple, which may have impacted its overall disappointing success rate. Taking only into account the two pairs who agreed to stay married at the finale (Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman and Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd), the season was met with 50% success. While Jessica and Austin continue to make it work, unresolved feelings for her ex and rumors of infidelity proved too much for Katie and Derek, who went their separate ways in the spring of 2020.

Season 9

MAFS The Couples That Stayed Together (& The Ones That Broke Up)

Season 9, along with its predecessor, was one of the series’ most successful seasons to date, with 50% of the Charlotte-based MAFS couples opting to stay together on Decision Day, and both still remain together today. Elizabeth Bice and Jamie Thompson relocated to northern California together in 2020. Deonna McNeill and Gregory Okotie welcomed their first child this past February.

Season 8

The Philadelphia-based season is the only other to boast 100% success based on its final matches. Fans were unsure if Stephanie Sersen and AJ Vollmoeller would make it, based on the often shaky appearance of their season 8 marriage. However, any doubts about the pair’s commitment to one another were cast away when Couples Cam caught up with them in June 2020. The two revealed that marriage counseling had helped them to grow and stay together. Married at First Sight: Couples Cam also checked in on Kristine Killingsworth and Keith Dewar who shared an update on their home renovation.

Season 7

MAFS The Couples That Stayed Together (& The Ones That Broke Up)

All three Dallas couples said “yes” to moving forward with their partners on Decision Day of season 7. Mia Bally & Tristan Thompson, whose marriage many fans believe was doomed from the start, officially parted ways after only a few months. Amber Martorana & Dave Flaherty followed suit shortly after, though much more amicably. Only one couple still remains happily married. Danielle Bergman & Bobby Dodd welcomed daughter Olivia in February 2019 and son Robert in December 2020.

Season 6

The only couple to recommit at the end of their 8 weeks this season were fan favorites Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre. Audiences recall the couple’s struggle to connect on-air, and some were surprised by their final decision. However, nearly four years after the season aired, this duo is going strong. They expanded to a trio in October 2018, after giving birth to their daughter, Laura.

Season 5

Season five also saw all three couples moving forward with their partners after the finale. Unfortunately, only one couple remains committed today. Danielle DeGroot and Cody Knapek, a couple some say were better suited as friends than lovers from the get-go, announced their divorce in August of 2017. Sheila Downs and Nate Duhon filed for divorce, citing claims of infidelity, in November of the same year. This Chicago-based MAFS season still maintains a 33.3% success rate, however, thanks to Ashley Petta and Anthony D’Amico. The couple is now a family of four, having welcomed their first daughter in January 2019, and their second this past February.

Season 4

MAFS The Couples That Stayed Together (& The Ones That Broke Up)

Only two matches agreed to stay married after season 4 ended. Unfortunately, both marriages did not last, leading to yet another disappointingly low success rate. Lillian Vilchez and Tom Wilson remained on friendly terms when they ended their year-long marriage in 2017. Sonia Granados and Nick Pendergrast finalized their divorce in April of 2017, only to have Nick announce he was expecting twins with a new girlfriend, Heather Yerrid, three months later.

Season 3

MAFS The Couples That Stayed Together (& The Ones That Broke Up)

Vanessa Nelson and Tres Russell were definitely fan-favorites, and the two committed to moving forward with one another on Decision Day during this first Atlanta-based MAFS season. Ultimately though, Tres’ party boy antics proved too big a hurdle for their marriage to overcome. The couple dissolved their union only six months after filming ended, giving season three an overall success rate of 0% as well.

Season 2

MAFS The Couples That Stayed Together (& The Ones That Broke Up)

At its start, audiences had reason to believe this sophomore installment of the series would be filled with success. Though season 2’s Jaclyn Methuen and Ryan Ranellone’s romance was hardly love at first sight, their eventual chemistry became undeniable, and they quickly became a fan favorite. They both opted to stay married at the finale but announced at the show’s MAFS reunion that they had split. The pair did reconcile for a bit, but they eventually called it quits for good in June of 2015. Jessica Castro and Ryan DeNino’s divorce in late 2015 turned ugly, with allegations of infidelity, abuse, and reports of Ryan threatening Jessica and her family.

Season 1

Two of the three pre-selected MAFS matches chose to recommit on Decision Day of the premiere season. Courtney Hendrix and Jason Carrion seemed to have a solid foundation, sharing the same family and religious values. However, differences in their careers and life goals eventually proved to be too much for this fan-favorite duo who, in 2019, split after 5 years of marriage. Still, this debut season holds a 50% overall success rate, thanks to series favorites Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner.

While Jaime had previously been unsuccessful in her quests for love on The Bachelor season 16 and Bachelor Pad season 3, the experts at Married at First Sight saw just what she needed in Doug. The pair welcomed their first child in August 2017, and their second in May 2020. They are still going strong and now star in their own series Married at First Sight: Jamie and Doug Plus One on Lifetime.
