Marvel Comics just showed off the darkest side of Quicksilver, as the hero was just mind-controlled into killing some of his closest allies. In Dark Ages #3, Marvel’s surviving heroes send Quicksilver on a recon mission following Tony Stark going missing. However, after Pietro Maximoff is mind-controlled by Killgrave, he becomes one of the most powerful and deadliest killers in a world without power.
In Dark Ages by Marvel Comics, the power has been shut off across the planet after a villain nearly wiped out Earth. Years later, heroes and villains across the Marvel Universe adapted to life without electricity and tried to continue life as normal as possible. For example, Tony Stark created his own lab in a cave to practice alchemy without technology. However, Apocalypse has managed to use Magneto’s powers to create a Faraday cage while using Killgrave to mind-control some of Marvel’s most brilliant heroes into helping him get more power back than ever.
In Dark Ages #3 by Tom Taylor, Iban Coello, Brian Reber, and VC’s Joe Sabino, a group of heroes investigate the disappearance of Tony Stark, who was last seen with Captain America. After figuring out it was Mysqiue in disguise, the heroes, including Johnny and Sue Storm, Jean Grey, and Spider-Man, visit Black Panther and Doctor Doom for help. T’Challa sends Quicksilver as a scout for Apocalypse’s base, as they hope he can scope out the energy-filled location without getting caught. Unfortunately, Quicksilver is shocked when he discovers his father Magneto being used as a power source, leading to his capture. When he returns to the heroes, Quicksilver is under the control of Kilgrave. Using his speed, he brutally murders Okoye by snapping her neck and plunges her spear deep inside Johnny Storm’s chest.
Sue Storm can only scream in horror as Quicksilver kills Johnny. The heroes barely have time to react as Quicksilver comes speeding towards them, leading Jean Grey to shut down his mind. Quicksilver’s legs end up being burned as Johnny Storm explodes – with Sue Storm saving her allies in a protective bubble.
Quicksilver’s speed already made him one of the most powerful, unstoppable heroes in the Marvel Universe. But, as a force of evil mind-controlled by Kilgrave, Quicksilver turned into an incredibly deadly weapon, killing two powerful heroes with ease. There’s no telling how much more carnage the speedster would have left in his wake if Jean Grey wasn’t able to shut him down.
