Characters in Marvel Strike Force have always been divided into origin traits representing how they gained their strengths and abilities. While these origins weren’t vital early in the game’s lifespan, players now need to ensure that they’re building a balanced roster of each origin.

Several raids and levels of the Dark Dimension restrict teams by origins, and not diversifying will also make gear collection nearly impossible. Luckily, several Skill characters have recently been released or reworked to give players ample options to choose from. Whether it’s for Arena, War, Raids, or Dark Dimension, there are Skill characters and teams that excel in every game role.

10 Night Nurse

Night Nurse was the best healer in Marvel Strike Force when the game launched, and most players invested upgrade materials into her for use in early Ultimus Raids. Minerva eventually pushed her out of use, and Night Nurse fell into relative obscurity.

Then, like many other characters, Night Nurse received several reworks and a brand new team. As a member of the Shadowlands squad alongside Daredevil, White Tiger, Moon Knight, and Elektra, Night Nurse contributes heals and debuff clears to a solid war offense team. Late-game players likely won’t use her in raids after the introduction of the Secret Avengers, but she’s still a great choice for newer players that can’t access better options.

9 Black Widow

There are several powerful versions of Black Widow in Marvel comics, and Natasha Romanoff was suitably powerful in Marvel Strike Force when the game first launched. She grants speed up to allies, which made her a member of early Arena meta teams, but she slowly crept out of usefulness.

However, she’s now a member of two strong teams that are viable in War. Both the Wave One Avengers and Skill Military teams sit slightly below the current meta, but they still perform well and benefit from Black Widow’s Speed Ups and Stuns.

8 Proxima Midnight

The Black Order was the best team in Marvel Strike Force for the better part of a year, and they dominated every single game mode that they could participate in. Proxima Midnight was never the strongest member of that team, but she was still necessary for Thanos to transform into his empowered mode.

She can deal Stun and Offense Down to enemies, which has seen her used a bit outside of the Black Order. Her relatively low gear cost has also made her a decently popular choice for Dark Dimension 4.

7 Sharon Carter

The Secret Avengers were released to be the apex Skill Raid team, so it makes sense that several team members are among the best Skill characters in Marvel Strike Force.

Sharon Carter is the team’s Controller, and she excels at dealing out debilitating negative effects to the enemy team. Her Ultimate Ability clears all positive effects and deals Stun, and her Special deals Defense Down and Ability Block. Her basic rewinds opponents’ turn meter on hit and assist, so she’s an excellent choice for the Striker ISO class.

6 Moondragon

Moondragon may be well-known to readers of Marvel comics, but to most, she’s one of the most obscure characters available to unlock in Marvel Strike Force. This impressive Infinity Watch team member dominated the arena for several months, and she’s still seeing common usage in Raids.

This powerful psychic is a Support-class character, and in addition to healing teammates with her Ultimate and Special Abilities, she can deal out Defense Down, flip Immunity on Protectors, and clear positive effects from enemies. Moondragon isn’t currently available via guaranteed farming methods, so players who missed her initial release will have to get lucky with Premium and Mega Orbs.

5 Baron Zemo

Baron Helmut Zero was one of the first members of the Thunderbolts, and this deadly regent has been a fantastic Skill character in Marvel Strike Force since his initial release.

This Controller-class combatant was initially utilized mainly in Real-Time Arena and War, but he’s also had several runs in meta Area teams. His high speed lets players use his Ultimate ability before most other characters get a turn, and the slow that it deals hampers enemies early. Though he’s still strong on hybrid War offense squads, he currently sees the most play in the arena along with the Eternals Sersi and Ikarus.

4 Gamora

Gamora was once one of the worst marquee characters in the game and didn’t even see use in her home Guardians of the Galaxy team. While several characters have received buffs and reworks, Gamora has perhaps seen the most massive jump in usability.

Beyond getting one of the best costumes in Marvel Strike Force, Gamora was given an incredibly empowered form and a new home on the Infinity Watch team. She’s now a top-tier damage dealer, and her synergy with Adam Warlock and Phyla-Vell grants her impressive survivability. Infinity Watch may no longer be the dominant Arena team, but Gamora still excels in War.

3 Shang-Chi

Shang-Chi’s cinematic debut was filled with amazing action scenes, and his representation in-game is equally impressive. Marvel Strike Force seems to release a new best War defense team a few times each year, and the most recent (and powerful) was Heroes for Hire. This squad initially had only four characters (Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Colleen Wing, and Misty Knight), and they were dominant even in this partial state.

Shang-Chi later joined as the team’s fifth, and the team has skyrocketed to even more impressive heights. Except for Weapon X, no team can defeat Heroes for Hire at even strength. Furthermore, Shang-Chi has proven to be a popular character for Dark Dimension and Skill nodes in Greek and Doom raids.

2 Captain America (Sam Wilson)

Marvel Strike Force 10 Best Skill Characters Ranked

Sam Wilson has been in Marvel Strike Force as Falcon for several years, but he hasn’t been meta-relevant in a long time. Fortunately, the Captain America version of the character is top-tier.

The game designers mixed elements of the Falcon and Captain America (Steve Rogers) kits to create a tank that does a little bit of everything. His taunt and deflects mean that he’s excellent at taking hits, and his ability to grant speed bar and ability energy to teammates is priceless in raids. Captain America (Sam Wilson) is a must-have for the Skill nodes in Doom Raids, and he’s a popular choice for all levels of Dark Dimension.

1 Kestrel

Kestrel isn’t just the best Skill character in Marvel Strike Force; she’s currently the best character, period. This dimension-hopping co-founder of S.T.R.I.K.E. is an original creation for the game, and she’s useful in almost every game mode.

Newer players may find her helpful in Arena, but Raid is where Kestrel shines the most. Her dual Skill and Tech tags mean that she can be used in twice the number of nodes, and she synergizes well with the Secret Avengers team. Players should not hesitate to power up Kestrel as high as they can, as her kit is damage-based and will scale well with level, ability, and ISO upgrades.
