Since Ken Jeong joined The Masked Singer in season 1, fans have been dragging him for his poor celebrity guesses. Even his panel of celebrity judges make fun of him when he makes an outlandish guess that would have never come to anyone’s mind. While he never seems to get the identity of an actor or singer correctly, he does well when it comes to guessing athletes. Jeong has been right a couple of times over the years, but they have been very few and far between.
The reality series became a nationwide hit when it debuted on FOX in 2019. Since its airing, The Masked Singer has been racking millions of views every week. The popularity has even allowed the show to branch off into a spin-off called The Masked Dancer, with Jeong returning as a judge. Even though he may not be the best at guessing, it’s quite entertaining to see him go through the thought process.
Viewers on Reddit have begun dragging the actor once again for his guesses in regards to actors and singers. Fans believe Jeong tends to blurt out a random actor or singer, hoping his guess will make sense. When he does this, it doesn’t go his way, as his panel of fellow judges will usually slam him for his assumption. However, when it comes to guessing an athlete, Jeong seems to be pretty on the nose. One fan said, “It’s true that he’s pretty good with athletes. Barry Zito, Chloe Kim, Victor Oladipo, Rob Gronkowski (although that one was pretty obvious).” Jeong was also the only one to guess Lonzo Ball as the Whatchamacallit on The Masked Singer season 4.
As one viewer noted above, they believe The Masked Singer chose Jeong as a judge on the show for this reason. The other judges, Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger and Jenny McCarthy, are more knowledgeable about actors and singers compared to him. However, Jeong has been right about a few celebrities that did not happen to be athletes. During season 1 of The Masked Singer, he guessed Tori Spelling as the Unicorn as his first guess.
Even though fans, and his fellow judges, enjoy teasing Jeong about outlandish guesses, it is one of the reasons people tune in to the show. While he may not always be accurate, it’s fun to watch him explain how he got to his conclusion. Hopefully, Jeong on The Masked Singer will come up with better celebrity guesses in the coming weeks.
