Peter Quill (a.k.a Star-Lord) has become one of the most popular members of the MCU since its inception. While many movie fans weren’t aware of the Guardians of the Galaxy prior to its release, the movie quickly became a favorite.

A lot of that is down to the excellent work that the cast put in for the films, with Chris Pratt, in particular, bringing an amazing performance every time. Peter Quill’s relationship with Gamora is a big part of the character’s storyline, and it is a relationship people have enjoyed.

But, what if he ended up dating someone else from the MCU? In a hypothetical world, there could be another romance out there for the charismatic Star-Lord that perhaps would have been more fun. In this list, we will explore that option, looking at 10 other MCU characters that he could have dated.

10 Scarlet Witch

We will kick start this list with someone who Peter Quill would have been perfect in a relationship with, which is Scarlet Witch. Even though she dates Vision throughout the MCU, that doesn’t mean that they couldn’t have worked out together in a different world.

The relationship that Scarlet Witch has with Vision is one that some fans love and others hate. Because of that, putting her with Peter Quill might have made her a more popular character, as it would have brought out her personality a little more.

9 Mantis

There aren’t tons of female characters in the Guardians of the Galaxy world that are heavily showcased, but one is Mantis. She joined the cast in the sequel and instantly made an impact, she was tons of fun and had a great rapport with Peter Quill.

Obviously in the film, he was already in a relationship with Gamora. However, had they not been an item, it would be very easy for the MCU to put them into a relationship together, and it would have added just as much to that movie as the Gamora relationship.

8 Valkyrie

While there have been rumblings of the MCU turning Valkyrie into the first LGBTQ hero, that isn’t something that is confirmed yet. Because of that, it could certainly be interesting to have seen her end up in a romantic relationship with Peter Quill.

She became very popular with fans from the moment she entered the series, and she certainly is someone who oozes confidence. That is something that Peter Quill isn’t shy of either, and putting that together as she travels around the galaxy with him would have been an awesome option.

7 Hope van Dyne

Another character that has plenty of self-belief is Hope van Dyne, who is also known as The Wasp. She’s a great character who does end up being romantically involved with Ant-Man, but in a different world putting her with Peter Quill would have been interesting.

They could certainly have clicked if they were together as they are both just so full of life and personality. Neither are shy about their ability and that is why they would have been a great couple, bringing those two films together.

6 Aunt May

In the latest version of Spider-Man, it was Tony Stark who ended up slightly flirting with Peter Parker’s loyal Aunt May. However, that was something that was never going to work due to his relationship with Pepper Potts, but that doesn’t mean Peter Quill couldn’t have.

Having Quill appear alongside Peter Parker always leads to a lot of funny moments, and him with Aunt May would certainly have done that. Seeing him flex his flirting muscles as a shocked Peter Parker watches on would have been comedy gold.

5 Jane Foster

Peter Quill and Thor have always had a long-standing rivalry which has been done in a fun and friendly capacity. But, what if the MCU wanted to add in a little bit of a more aggressive style to the feud by having Peter Quill end up dating Jane Foster?

With Peter Quill knowing Earth well, it would have been interesting if Jane opted to choose him over Thor, as he chose Asgard instead. The MCU obviously didn’t want them to fall out too harshly, but they managed to make a split between Iron Man and Captain America work, so this could have done as well.

4 Black Widow

Black Widow is incredibly close to several different male characters in the MCU, including Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, and Hawkeye. However, she doesn’t end up being romantic with any of them, which is a shame as seeing her in that way could have been very interesting.

That’s why Peter Quill could have worked out for her character. Black Widow is a fairly serious character for the most part, so seeing her in this relaxed sense could have been very interesting. It would also have been interesting to see her serious personality matching with Quill’s comedic and fun-loving side.

3 Maria Hill

While Peter Quill spends plenty of time roaming around the galaxies trying to make as much money as possible, he also spends a lot of time on Earth. This is why a relationship with Maria Hill could easily have happened and it would certainly have been interesting.

This could have really brought a new side out of Maria, a less serious side in contrast to just her being in a serious role with her job. Maria is a great character, but she only appears every now and then, so a relationship with Peter Quill would have allowed her to appear more.

2 Nebula

One of the MCU characters that would have made the most sense for Peter Quill to date would have been Nebula. She is the sister of Gamora who has also become a very popular character, especially during Avengers: Endgame, and she is very similar to Gamora.

They are both very straight-talking and dry in their delivery, not being too in touch with the human world. The storyline could have been very similar to Nebula as it was with Gamora, and the relationship would certainly have made perfect sense.

1 Captain Marvel

The ultimate member of the MCU that Peter Quill could have dated instead is Captain Marvel. The two characters have plenty in common, while also being two of the most aesthetically pleasing characters as well. Both Quill and Captain Marvel spent large amounts of time on Earth, which they could have made their home together.

However, Captain Marvel is also one of the only characters who could have easily lived with Quill traveling around the galaxy. Seeing her join his crew would have easily made sense, and because they both like to have a laugh and a joke, they would have been fun together.
