Ultron was one of many powerful foes that the Avengers faced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though originally an artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark to protect the earth, Ultron ended up deeming humanity as the ultimate threat and sought to destroy them all. Fortunately, the Avengers ended up defeating the villainous AI in Age of Ultron.

However, if the Avengers had failed to defeat him, some Pokémon could have stopped Ultron in his tracks. There are also Pokémon that, though helpful, wouldn’t be able to defeat Ultron despite their best efforts. From Mewtwo, one of the most powerful Pokémon to ever exist, to Togekiss, who prefers to avoid conflict, these Pokémon would either beat Ultron or be beaten.

10 Can Stop Ultron: Mewtwo Is One Of The Most Powerful Psychic Pokémon

Mewtwo, much like Ultron, was created by humans to be a weapon. Even though Mewtwo turned on humanity, it later changed its ways and decided to protect its fellow clone Pokémon instead.

It might not want to save humanity, considering all the cruel deeds Team Rocket did to it and its fellow clone Pokémon, but Mewtwo would fight Ultron so its fellow clones could still have a world to safely live in. Mewtwo might not be the mightiest Pokémon to ever exist, but its overwhelming psychic powers, enough to create a gigantic storm in the first movie, would help it take down Ultron.

9 Cannot Stop Ultron: Kubfu Is A Strong Fighting-Type But Ultron Would Overwhelm It

Kubfu is a powerful Fighting-type bear Pokémon introduced in the Isle of Armor DLC for Sword & Shield, but its fighting skills are no match for Ultron. Ultron is much too quick for Kubfu to keep up, and before Kubfu could land any hard-hitting attacks, Ultron would probably just kill it with one of his doubles. Kubfu would put up a good fight, but would ultimately fall if pitted against Ultron in battle.

8 Can Stop Ultron: Eternatus’ Darkest Day Would Destroy The World Faster Than Ultron Could

Eternatus from Sword & Shield could destroy the world faster than Ultron — and also destroy Ultron himself in the process. Eternatus’ presence bringing the Darkest Day to the world is known to be devastating. If it wasn’t for the protagonists of the game (or Ash and Goh in the anime) catching Eternatus, it would have already destroyed the world long before Ultron could.

Considering how much real-life destruction it caused in its series and how hard it was to defeat, let alone catch, Ultron would have a tough time fighting Eternatus. Eternatus might even just instantly smite Ultron, befitting its reputation of bringing the Darkest Day.

7 Cannot Stop Ultron: Xerneas’ Life-Giving Abilities Don’t Make It A Great Fighter

Xerneas is better known for giving life than for battling. Considering that its abilities are meant for sharing eternal life, as opposed to causing destruction like Ultron’s, it would have little chance of besting Ultron in battle. It may be a strong Legendary Pokémon, but this particular Legendary is not as suited for battle when compared to Eternatus or Palkia.

6 Can Stop Ultron: Rotom Could Get Inside Ultron And Shut Him Down

Rotom has proved that it can slip into nearly any electronic device and manipulate it however it likes, especially during its run in the anime. Considering its ability to hijack any electronic device, it could likely just get inside Ultron and shut him down from the inside, considering that Ultron himself is ultimately a machine.

Had Rotom been available for a cameo in the MCU, it’s likely that many of the catastrophic events in Age of Ultron wouldn’t have happened.

5 Cannot Stop Ultron: Togekiss Would Rather Avoid Ultron Than Fight

Togekiss is a powerful yet adorable Fairy-type Pokémon that usually only appears during times of peace. Considering that Ultron was determined to destroy the world, Togekiss would rather avoid Ultron than fight in battle.

Togekiss is another extremely rare Pokémon that prefers spreading blessings and goodwill to the world rather than participate in combat. It would be great to have around after Ultron is defeated, but it should definitely not be used during battle.

4 Can Stop Ultron: Palkia Could Just Send Ultron To Another Dimension Entirely

Palkia, as the Legendary Spatial Pokémon, could literally just send Ultron to another dimension. This risks sending Ultron to another innocent world that he could destroy instead of the world of the MCU, but at least the latter would be safe from Ultron for sure.

If he ends up in another dimension devoid of virtually everything except Ultron itself, Ultron wouldn’t have anything to destroy and couldn’t do a thing about it.

3 Cannot Stop Ultron: Shaymin Would Be Squished By Ultron

Shaymin would be great at fixing up the chaos Ultron made after the battle is over with its powers. However, if Shaymin actually faced Ultron one-on-one, it would be squished by the rogue AI. As the Gratitude Pokémon, Shaymin’s own gentle nature and abilities are generally unsuited for battle compared to a killing machine like Ultron.

This Pokémon is better off hiding until Ultron is defeated rather than joining the fray. Also, many fans consider Shaymin as a Pokémon that should never be caught, so the chances of anyone having one to use in battle in the first place are slim to none.

2 Can Stop Ultron: Arceus Is Literally The God Of All Pokémon

Arceus, as the god of all Pokémon in existence, has more than enough power to take down Ultron. Even though Ultron used his abilities to almost destroy the world, the powerful Arceus could counter that by using one of its own useful moves to destroy Ultron in turn. When serious threats like Ultron emerge, Arceus will stop at nothing to get rid of them.

1 Cannot Stop Ultron: Jirachi Would Accidentally Help Ultron Instead of Defeating Him

If Ultron encountered Jirachi, it’s possible that this Mythical Pokémon could just grant Ultron’s wish to destroy the world rather than help save it from his wrath. Given that its entire purpose is to grant wishes, it’d be unfortunate if Ultron encountered this Pokémon and made it grant wishes to help Ultron destroy all of humanity. Jirachi is best kept far, far away from Ultron, just in case he decides to use it for any world destruction-related matters.
