Mediatonic has given almost all Fall Guys players a free skin and 5000 Kudos to spend as an apology for its first-day teething problems.

As the release day for Fall Guys’ approached, anticipation for the game ramped up in a major way. So major that the game’s developer Mediatonic wasn’t prepared for it. Making Fall Guys free at launch by offering it up to all PS Plus subscribers boosted its popularity in a major way, but the willingness to pay for the game on PC would have come as quite a surprise.

The number of players to have downloaded Fall Guys for free is still unknown. However, we do know that 1.5 million people downloaded the game within 24 hours, and two million people have paid for Fall Guys on Steam. That led to a larger amount of traffic than Mediatonic expected on day one. More traffic than the Fall Guys servers could deal with.

That led to a lot of disappointed players early on, and even periods during which the servers were shut down completely so that fixes could be made. Mediatonic promised that it would make up for those early teething problems, and a little more than a week later, it has done exactly that. On August 13, 2020, it gifted all players the Legendary Prickles skin along with 5000 complimentary Kudos.

There was one caveat, and it was one that is more than fair. The Prickles costume and Kudos were only gifted to players who logged in before midnight on August 14, 2020. Honestly, we think that’s more than fair considering the issues that plagued the game’s servers were resolved long before then. Best of all, players didn’t need to do anything to claim the free gifts, they should already be waiting for you.

It has been a big week for Fall Guys, and will likely be a big weekend. Not only will there be plenty of players dressed as cacti popping up, but also some wearing the game’s first-ever crossover costume. PC players can currently use their Kudos to buy a Team Fortress 2 themed costume via the in-game store. Considering the number of crossover suggestions from fans, it will be the first of many collaborations.
