Mega Evolution Confirmed For Pokémon Lets Go! Pikachu & Lets Go! Eevee

A new trailer for Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee has been released which shows off some of the new features in the game, including an official announcement for the return of Team Rocket, who had been previously spotted in another trailer.

The biggest announcement of the trailer is the return of Mega Evolutions, which is something that fans weren’t sure would return, as the Let’s Go games seemed content to strip the game down to its basics and return to the formula of the first generation of Pokémon games.

The only Pokémon shown to possess Mega Evolutions are the Kanto starters; Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur. Charizard has both its X and Y Mega Evolutions in the game, which means that it won’t have to suffer under the tyranny of Rock-type moves.

Mega Evolution Confirmed For Pokémon Lets Go! Pikachu & Lets Go! Eevee

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee only contains Pokémon from the first generation of games (plus one brand new Pokémon) then that means we will likely be seeing other Mega Evolutions in the games.

The current first generation Pokémon that possess Mega Evolutions (outside of the starters) are Aerodactyl, Alakazam, Beedril, Gengar, Gyarados, Kangaskhan, Mewtwo, Pinsir, Pidgeot, and Slowbro.

It’s likely that all of the first generation Mega Evolutions will appear in Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee, which means that Mega Kangaskhan’s reign of terror will be able to continue in the Pokémon Go spinoff titles.

The fans were disappointed by the lack of new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Sun & Moon, as many saw that as the creators of the game backing away from the idea. A few Mega Evolutions had dominated the competitive scene, with Mega Kangaskhan being the most popular choice for the Mega slot in each team, due to its ability to attack twice with certain moves.

The return of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee is a positive sign that they may be returning in the next generation of Pokémon games.

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee will be released on November 16th.
