Misty & Brocks Strongest Pokémon From Season 1 Ranked

Misty and Brock are two of the most important characters in Pokémon. They are most commonly known as two of the Kanto region’s gym leaders. In many adaptations, they battle against trainers and give them badges if the trainers succeed in defeating them. In the anime, however, they left their gyms in order to join Ash and Pikachu on their adventures.

Though they already had multiple pokémon with them when joining the Pallet Town trainer, they also found more pokémon that joined them throughout their journey. As a pokémon trainer, Misty has turned some pokémon into excellent fighters, while Brock makes sure that all of their pokémon are healthy with his skills as a breeder. They’ve both got some powerful pokémon, but which is the best of the best?

10 Misty’s Togepi

At the end of the first season, Ash, Brock, and Misty found an egg, and, not knowing what type of pokémon would hatch from it, they decided to keep the egg. When it was ready, Togepi turned out to be the pokémon that was inside it.

Ash, Brock, Misty, and Meowth had a tournament to decide who would get to keep Togepi. However, since Misty was the first of them that Togepi saw, the adorable pokémon believed that she was its mother and only wanted to be with her. As Togepi was just born as the season ended, it was very weak at this point in the series.

9 Misty’s Horsea

Misty & Brocks Strongest Pokémon From Season 1 Ranked

Misty and her friends found an injured Horsea who was trying to warn them about a dangerous group of Tentacool. After finding out that the Tentacool and their leader, Tentacruel, were angry at the people for destroying their habitat, Horsea found comfort in Misty’s presence and decided to stay with her. Like Togepi, Horsea’s abilities were never explored much as the water-type pokémon was very small and weak.

8 Brock’s Zubat

Early in their adventures, Brock and his friends found a cave with a group of Zubats flying outside of it. They were confused and ended up attacking a scientist named Seymour. As Ash and Misty followed Seymour into the cave, Brock caught one of the Zubats.

However, he rarely used the bat in battle, though Zubat did engage in a battle against the aforementioned antagonizing Tentacruel.

7 Misty’s Goldeen

Misty & Brocks Strongest Pokémon From Season 1 Ranked

Though rarely used in battle, Misty’s Goldeen has been used to help the group many times. She caught Goldeen before the events of the series, and, because of this, it was one of the first pokémon to appear in the anime. Misty usually calls upon Goldeen to help out when the group needs a pokémon that can swim well while she leaves her other strong pokémon for battles.

6 Misty’s Staryu

Unlike Goldeen, Misty has used her Staryu in many fights. When Misty fought against Ash in order to see if he was worthy of having the Cascade Badge, she used Staryu against Ash’s Butterfree. Staryu won the battle, but Ash proved that he was worthy after taking on Team Rocket, who was trying to steal their pokémon.

Regardless, Staryu proved to be one of Misty’s most powerful pokémon in season one, with one of her only two stronger pokémon being its evolved form, Starmie.

5 Brock’s Geodude

Misty & Brocks Strongest Pokémon From Season 1 Ranked

Geodude has been one of the most helpful pokémon from the first season. When Erika’s gym was on fire, Geodude helped put it out by placing dirt down. Geodude also helped Ash when he was trapped underground, not knowing that Aerodactyl would bring Ash high into the sky upon being let out. Brock has also used Geodude in many battles that the rock type pokémon helped him win.

4 Brock’s Vulpix

When Brock and his friends went to Breeder’s Lane, he finally got to meet his idol, Suzie. She is one of the world’s greatest breeders, and Brock asks to learn from her.

Her Vulpix began to enjoy Brock’s company and food, so Suzie decided to let the fire-type fox stay with him temporarily, stating that Brock is just as good of a pokémon breeder as she is. Vulpix proved to be incredibly powerful even though it was not much of a fighter and Brock did not want anything bad to happen to Suzie’s pokémon.

3 Misty’s Psyduck

Misty & Brocks Strongest Pokémon From Season 1 Ranked

Though she never wanted Psyduck, there is no doubt that it was one of the strongest pokémon from season one. Most of the time, Psyduck does not do much. However, Psyduck always has a headache, and, when it becomes too painful for the poor pokémon to handle, its true power unleashes. Psyduck has saved the day multiple times by simply getting a headache and would be Misty’s strongest pokémon if it was always able to maintain its power.

Despite helping Misty and her friends so much, this is the one pokémon she despises, second only to… well, just about every bug-type pokémon. She always tries to get rid of Psyduck and trade for a different pokémon, but this has only made the fans love the water type duck even more.

2 Misty’s Starmie

Misty & Brocks Strongest Pokémon From Season 1 Ranked

Misty’s strongest pokémon is Starmie. Like Staryu and Goldeen, Misty had this pokémon prior to meeting Ash. When going to Pokémon Tech, Misty used Starmie in her battles against two of the students there.

Though she defeated Joe, she lost to Giselle. However, this also proved that Starmie was able to continue fighting even after its first battle in that episode. The only reason Starmie lost was because Giselle used a Graveler, which is incredibly strong against water-type pokémon.

1 Brock’s Onix

Brock’s strongest pokémon is also the first he ever got, Onix. Though it has mainly been used to help the group when they are in danger, Brock has used Onix in some battles, including the time he met and fought Ash.

When they were trapped in a cave due to Team Rocket, Onix caught up to them as they tried to escape and fought against Team Rocket all on its own. Though it was knocked out, it was also able to defeat Koffing and Ekans. The only times that Onix has lost a fight was when there was a major disadvantage, such as being attacked by water or when Meowth tried to defeat Onix in order to be Togepi’s trainer.
