She is plucky, intrepid and incredible with firearms, but she is also emotionally immature, angsty, and tends to be thoughtless during life and death situations, thus often putting others in danger.

It is this unstable image of her that is widely harbored by fans who end up blaming her for a lot of the trouble the gang gets into. Yet there are some on Reddit who are more considerate and ready to give her some leeway or simply offer different perspectives involving the character who is otherwise written off as a troublemaker.

Tokyo Is Complex & Realistic

This is a tad against the grain since Tokyo in action mode was exactly what put the team in danger more often than not. A large bulk of fans believe that she might have been able to risk her own life, but she also risked that of the others, which she had no right to do, even though, to be fair, she probably never intended harm on the others.

To Tokyo, With Love

This is arguably one of the most uncommon points of view out there, since this smart, incredibly bold young woman gets more hate than love from fans for her reckless temperament. And not even the most die-hard Money Heist fans, who know everything about the show, would want to be on the same gang as her unless they wanted to hold their hearts in their hands every few minutes.

Rio & Tokyo Make An Adorable Couple

In another unusual opinion, Redditor midnighttonight raves about Rio and Tokyo’s relationship. They are aware that they are in the minority in adoring this couple, but states that they “can picture them having children together and ‘settling down’ (whatever the equivalent of that is for criminals on the most wanted list).”

As the fan points out, this is indeed controversial. Rio and Tokyo make a handsome couple, but there is a general consensus that they are bad for each other, and together, their toxic volatility affects the Professor’s grand plan. After all, Rio wouldn’t have been caught if he and Tokyo hadn’t planned to keep in touch, and neither Nairobi nor Tokyo would have been killed, for the Bank of Spain heist wouldn’t have happened in the first place. However, that said, none of the trouble that Rio or Tokyo get the others into is brought on intentionally.

René Brought In To Generate Empathy For Tokyo

Albeit a layered character, Tokyo had seemed a tad one-dimensional until those moments with René, when fans of Money Heist wished that Tokyo had ended up with Rene rather than with Rio. While the majority of fans see her simply as an angsty teenager who courts trouble and drags the others along with her, she is, underneath her adrenaline-driven image, very human indeed. That is exactly why the character evokes a gamut of emotions, making Money Heist fans feel both sorry for her at times and hatred for her at others, because that is human.
