Animal Crossing: New Horizons is just the game that keeps on giving, which has held especially true during this period of isolation. As many public places, including museums, aquariums, theme parks, and more are closed, finding ways for them to advertise and stay relevant is critically important. As such, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has elected to conduct a virtual tour of the museum in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Having streamed for a while now, some representatives from the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, California were joined by fossil expert Emily Graslie to do a virtual tour of the aquarium in the latest installment in the Animal Crossing series, New Horizons. Graslie works at the Field Museum, located in Chicago, Illinois. Graslie’s commentary was interesting in its guidance regarding the surprising realism of the fossils on display in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The Twitch stream had been tweeted by Monterey Bay Aquarium, which can be seen below. The museum tour starts around the 21:22 mark.

One of the museum commentators noted how the museum in Animal Crossing: New Horizons was accurate in its displays of various ecosystems. In other words, the groups of prehistoric animals were accurate in their grouping, rather than being randomly displayed. Throughout the presentation, Graslie shows appreciation for the surprising accuracy of many fossils on display.

The stream itself is around two hours long, so with time to spare, you can definitely learn some interesting facts about the wide range of dinosaur species in the New Horizons museum. Collecting them will be a monumental task in the game itself. However, it may actually be undertaken by many during isolation, as the game has outsold Mario Kart 8 on Nintendo Switch in Japan.

Frankly, given the game’s cathartic and relaxing nature, Animal Crossing: New Horizons could be one of the best games to be playing right now. Moreover, if you enjoyed the previous games, New Horizons is a definite improvement on what has worked and expansion of more features.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
