When Moon Knight and Deadpool had their first fight in Marvel Comics, Wade Wilson was absolutely destroyed by Marc Spector. Taking place during 2010’s Vengeance of the Moon Knight story, Deadpool and Moon Knight were at odds over the life of a mob boss. While Moon Knight had been trying to be less of a killer during this era, Deadpool had been hired to end the criminal’s life. As a result, the two highly-skilled fighters began to brawl, though Wade’s big mouth resulted in him losing big time.

In Vengeance of the Moon Knight #8 from Gregg Hurwitz and Tan Eng Huat, Moon Knight had spared the life of mob boss Herman Goncharenko, who had fallen into a coma. However, Deadpool was trying to end Goncharenko’s life for good, having been hired by a young woman whose entire family had been murdered by the crime boss. This resulted in the pair facing off, though Deadpool begins to harass and taunt Spector for taking a softer approach with his crime-fighting, seeing as how Spector has been trying to resist the urges to kill as his god Khonshu wants him to.

However, as they duel in a carnival hall of mirrors Deadpool idiotically reveals that he has a healing factor that’s so powerful he virtually can’t die. While his intention was to point out the irony of Moon Knight’s restraint, he soon realized that it had the opposite effect, permitting Moon Knight to let loose and go nuts with his sword. As a result, Moon Knight sliced Wade Wilson up so much that the issue later reveals Deadpool needed two IV bags to help him heal and recover.

Thanks to Deadpool, Moon Knight was able to unleash his deadly skills and give in to the killer instincts that he had long been repressing. Furthermore, Spector ends up allowing the young woman to take matters into her own hands, watching her kill the crime boss in the hospital through a nearby window. While he felt the need to let her have her vengeance, Moon Knight’s brutal fight with Deadpool and doing nothing while Goncharenko was killed shows the hypocrisy of his attempts to treat life as sacred.

In any case, it’s certainly an intense first meeting and fight between Moon Knight and Deadpool, one where Wade most likely regretted opening up his big mouth (which is rare). Clearly, Moon Knight’s desire for vengeance and his brutality is extremely hard for Spector to hold back, and his brawl with Deadpool serves as a perfect example.
