Audiovisual production company Orichalcum Pictures has announced a December 8, 2020 release date for Ryte – The Eye of Atlantis, its VR adventure to the fabled city of Atlantis. The game is the studio’s very first video game, a co-production with VR Connection, and is being released for Steam VR and Oculus.

Ryte – The Eye of Atlantis is inspired and influenced by the superb Myst video game series, and by ancient Grecian culture and architecture. The first-person VR experience will allow you to deeply immerse into a “representation of the fantastic civilization of Atlantis drawn in part from the imagination of ‘historians and philosophers like Plato or Herodotus.” On top of that, you’’ be able to wield supernatural power in order to solve puzzles for the aim of saving Atlantis from its fated destruction.

According to the website and Steam notes, you will begin as a citizen in the year 2134, as a customer of the Historia Time Travel (HTT) company. HTT has discovered a way to faux-time travel, by sending a person’s consciousness back in time to inhabit the body of a person who was alive during the point in time. In this instance, your consciousness is sent back into the body of an old Atlantean fisherman, on the last day of the mythical city’s existence, just before the cataclysmic event that destroyed it.

While there, you’ll visit the city’s harbor, outdoor markets, and sacred temples, as well as meet many of its citizens who will act as guides and teachers, helping you achieve a level of understanding with the game’s various puzzles and technology. At some point, you’ll also acquire telekinetic powers that will allow you to manipulate the environment to your advantage.

However, even with all these advantages, you’ll have to remember that every action has a consequence. Depending on the cumulative decision you make during your adventure, you will end the game with one of four possible endings that will decide your fate and the fate of Atlantis – for good or bad.
