The real treat is its detachable mic, which can be removed at any time or adjusted closer or farther away from the player’s mouth. It’s great for those players who are looking for a headset that can double up as a solid pair of headphones. Alternatively, players can mute their mic instantly by putting it up on its side. It will disable the mic in an instant which is substantial for muting in a cinch.

This headset also comes along with a volume slider on the left side of the cord. At first, it was a bit jarring, especially in higher intensity games like Call of Duty and Knockout City, but it proved to be rather useful with a bit of usage. Similar to the flip-to-mute mic, it made jumping between inside and outside of the game much easier. However, that’s largely by design – there’s also Rig 500 Pro HA that’s designed for PC gaming, featuring a longer cord and audio splitter in-box. Regardless, the Rig 500 Pro HX is compatible with PC gaming anyways, though if that’s the main platform for a prospective user, the 500 Pro HA is likely a better choice.

Overall, the Rig 500 Pro HX headset’s 3D audio, flip-to-mute mic, and volume slider are benefits that most other headsets don’t provide. For its price tag, this is an easy recommendation for those looking to play on Xbox or PlayStation, and the 3D audio of this headset makes it difficult to want to go back to normal earbuds ever again.
