This weekend, Netflix is bringing a western movie, a new season of an adult animated TV series, a rom-com perfect for the upcoming Christmas season, and a Swedish miniseries. Even though the entertainment industry is almost back to normal, with studios finally releasing most of their movies in theaters, streaming platforms haven’t lost any force, and they continue to be quite popular as many people still choose them as a go-to source of entertainment. In Netflix’s case, its subscribers keep on being treated to new licensed and original content every week, for all ages and tastes.

Last week, the streaming giant added Guy Ritchie’s epic fantasy King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, the musical comedy-drama Begin Again, season 8 of Wentworth, season 25A of Thomas and Friends, and the horror movie Incident in a Ghostland, along with the thriller Hypnotic, the heist rom-com Army of Thieves, and the drama series Colin in Black & White. As it does on the first days of every month, Netflix will add a long list of licensed content this weekend, most notably the buddy cop action 21 Jump Street, the horror movies Bram Stoker’s Dracula and It Follows, the biographical movie Moneyball, and the action film Snakes on a Plane.

The adult animated TV series Big Mouth is back with its fifth season. Starting with “No Nut November” and continuing through New Years Eve, Big Mouth season 5 takes on the theme of “love & hate” with the introduction of lovebugs and hate worms, amorphous creatures that can shift between the two forms (like caterpillars and butterflies). Nick’s lovebug, Walter (Brandon Kyle Goodman), pushes him to pursue his feelings for Jessi until she publicly rejects him, turning Walter into a hate worm who leads Nick down a dark, rancorous path. Meanwhile, Jessi’s lovebug, Sonya (Pamela Adlon), appears as Jessi gets closer with Ali and eventually wonders if she loves her as more than a friend. Jessi and Ali’s new close bond, and joint co-opting of Missy’s affinity group, sends Missy into her own hate spiral, fueled by hate worm Rochelle (Keke Palmer).

The Unlikely Murderer

The Unlikely Murderer is a five-part Swedish limited series based on the 2018 book of the same name by Thomas Petterson. The Unlikely Murderer is a fictional interpretation of how Stig Engström (Robert Gustafsson), the graphic designer who was named as the probable murderer of Sweden’s prime minister Olof Palme, managed to elude justice right up to his death through a combination of audacity, luck, and a perplexed police force. The big questions are: what do we know about Stig Engström? and how could the police let him get away, despite being on his track? The murder was not planned well, as Engström did everything wrong from the beginning and almost no one believed his lies about what he actually did during that fateful night 1986 in Stockholm, Sweden.
