You may have seen Tiger King, the new Netflix docu-series that was released this past March, circling the internet lately. It’s the show that everyone loves to hate, but they can’t seem to look away or stop talking about it. One of the main reasons for that is the show’s star, Joe Exotic.

Joe Exotic is known for many things including his country music, his brief political campaigning, his big cat zoo, and his alleged involvement in a murder-for-hire scheme. One thing that even those who haven’t seen the show can voice their opinion on is Joe’s eye-popping outfits. There have been many interesting ones, but here are the top ten.

10 EMS Jacket

In episode two, we see Joe sporting an EMS jacket. Perhaps the outfit itself is not very crazy, but what’s crazy is what happened that day. One of Joe’s zookeepers, a man called Saff, broke zoo protocol while taking care of the tigers and stuck his arm in the cage instead of using a stick the workers are provided, resulting in a bite to the arm. Joe was immediately on the scene to help, and 911 was called. Strangely Joe had on this jacket after the ambulance came, but it wasn’t addressed where it came from or why he was wearing it.

9 Business Casual

Joe Exotic longed for fame and fortune, and a man named Rick Kirkham said that he was going to take Joe and make him famous. Rick decided that he was going to produce a reality show and began filming every moment of Joe’s life.

The crew was set up to film some promotional material for the show, and Joe wore this fabulous outfit seen above. We love the embroidered flowers on the shirt, and the pop of purple from the tie makes for a fun touch. The look is completed with a “Joe Exotic TV.com” hat atop his head to show that he still has a casual side even when he dresses a bit more formally.

8 Rhinestone Tank Top

If you’ve got a great body, you might as well flaunt it, and that’s exactly what Joe is doing with this next outfit. A fitted black tank top with tiny spattered rhinestones pair well with a pair of light fitted pants. Joe not only has his guns out to show off his various tattoos, but he also has a third gun sitting in its holster that he almost always has strapped around his waist. We’re not sure how many other people wearing rhinestones this tiger has seen, but we’re willing to bet that Joe is his favorite.

7 Light Up Parade

After Joe’s partner John left him for someone else and Joe’s other partner Travis tragically passed away, Joe met a new man named Dillon. On their first date, the two men went to a Christmas parade that Joe was set to be in. He stood on top of a limousine while Dillon rode on a truck with some tigers, and they both waved to people on the sidewalks. It’s kind of hard to see Joe’s outfit in the dark, but he sports a striped button-up shirt, a leather vest with tiny silver studs, and a long fringe that blends in with the stripes—and, of course, the lovely light up bulb necklace.

6 Anything With A Collar

Joe has many accessories that he tends to wear often to compliment his looks. You can usually find him sporting several hoops in his ears and on his eyebrow, a baseball cap, some blue eyeliner, and even a collar around his neck. Collars have become more popular and mainstream the past several years, although you’ll often find them more often on women, usually thinner and lighter than men’s.

It’s common for gay men to wear collars in the BDSM community, and the accessory can also be seen as a symbol of the connection between lovers, similar to a wedding ring. Still, other people just like to wear them to make a fashion statement.

5 Fringe Fanatic

You may have noticed that Joe tends to choose pieces for his wardrobe that contain a lot of fringes. We even got a sneak peek at his collection of leather fringe jackets while he was getting ready for his date with Dillon. One of his most eccentric fringe getups is seen above, but we’re sure he has plenty of others that we didn’t get a chance to see. While the ones he wore on Tiger King were primarily black, tan, and brown, we’d be willing to bet that Joe wouldn’t be afraid to wear some brighter fringe jackets and vests, as well.

4 Dead Bunny

Joe has been involved in a battle with the infamous Carole Baskin for years, with both accusing the other of animal abuse. One picture was given to Joe from a woman in Florida that showed several of Carole’s workers holding up dead and bloody rabbits while wearing big smiles on their faces. Joe decided to run with this when he and others went to protest outside of Carole’s sanctuary, Big Cat Rescue. They held up signs and handed out fliers while Joe wore a bunny suit that he splattered red ink on.

3 Magician

The bunny suit was not Joe’s first experience with rabbits. Early in Joe’s career, he did some performances as a magician. An eighth-grader named Wilson helped Joe learn magic in exchange for some animals from Joe’s zoo for the magic shows.

This may be the time when Joe started to wear more flashy outfits like the one in this photo. The animal print is a good look for him, with his stripes resembling that of a zebra or perhaps a white tiger. The high-waisted pants are an interesting bottom choice that almost gets overlooked due to the flashy top.

2 Pink Sequins

Let us warn you that it only gets more sparkly from here. Joe is seen here wearing an all sequined magenta shirt that makes him look like he should be gloriously spinning from the ceiling at a seventies disco. He’s holding two newborn baby tigers, and he mentions that they are worth quite a bit of money. He says that Carole Baskin missed out again, probably because he’s making money on cubs, and she’s not, since she’s against breeding big cats. We can’t help but wonder if Joe actually helped deliver the babies in that shirt. It’s not what most midwives tend to wear.

1 Shiny Waves

Our last outfit on the list is a shirt that Joe has multiple of, and we saw him wear it a lot during the documentary. As we can see, Joe didn’t hang up his shiny animal print tops after his magician days were over. He got himself more than one of these sequin shirts, and he seems to love wearing them, although he doesn’t always keep them closed. Whether he’s doing a show with the tigers or cooking a Thanksgiving meal for over a hundred people, you can bet that this look leaves an imprint of Joe Exotic in people’s memories.
