Rearranging couches doesn’t sound like it would be the best fit for a mobile game, yet developer ilyathehuman is looking to prove otherwise. Couch Installation Service is the company’s debut Android game, and the zen-like puzzler tasks players with moving furniture around until it’s placed in the specified position in each room.

To make things more difficult, only one side of the couch can be moved at a time. This means that players will have to slowly shimmy the seats into position while avoiding other objects that might get in their way. Most stages have more than one couch that needs to be repositioned, meaning you’ll have to choreograph your moves like a professional if you want to complete the most challenging levels. There’s no grid lines visible on the maps, but all objects still move in a grid-like fashion. And don’t worry if you mess up, you can easily restart the level or rewind your actions and try a new approach.

Of course, it’s not enough to just put a couch in the right spot — it also must face the right direction. Directional arrows on the floor will indicate which way your sofas (or benches, in some levels) need to face in order to be successful. After all, what good is a couch if it’s not facing the TV?

Oddly enough, Couch Installation Service seems like a pretty relaxing game despite its hardworking premise. Between the clean graphics, laidback gameplay, and soothing music, rearranging rooms might be the perfect way to kick back and unwind after a full day’s work.

Ilyathehumans’ first mobile title only offers 35 levels, but it claims that you’ll still get over three hours of gameplay out of your purchase.

Couch Installation Service is now available on Android. It’s also downloadable from itch.io and should be heading to Steam in the near future. It’ll run you $2.99, but that seems to be a fair price to pay for an innovative new indie title. Here’s hoping we see some new levels added in the future and maybe even a release on iOS.
