New Loading Screen Reveals New Pokémon Coming To Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO’s summer loading screen has been added to the game via the latest update, and it shows off some of the Pokémon that will be added in the coming weeks.

The addition of Pokémon to Pokémon GO has been a slow process, but that’s a good thing. Had Niantic given its players the chance to catch every single Pokémon from day one, odds are the app would not have lasted as long as it has. The gradual reveal of each generation is one of the keys to Pokémon GO’s success.

In terms of what Pokémon GO players can expect to see next, the first tease for that came earlier this month. Niantic released a piece of busy artwork in celebration of Pokémon GO’s fourth anniversary. That artwork showed the Gen VI starters front and center, the first hint that the next generation is on the horizon for Pokémon GO trainers.

As for Gen V, which is far from complete, the new loading screen added to Pokémon GO via the latest update revealed which gaps in the Pokédex will likely be filled next. Whimsicott can be seen relaxing by the pool, which is the evolved form of Cottonee, neither of which has appeared in Pokémon GO yet.

Braviary, the evolved form of Rufflet, is also there. Yes, some trainers will already have Braviary through evolving their Rufflet, but only a handful. Perhaps the most exciting inclusion in the new loading screen is that of Mega Charizard X. The mega evolution is hard to spot, way off in the background, and implies that the recently announced mega-evolutions are coming very soon.

It also implies that mega evolved Pokémon will be found in the wild, and also that once a mega evolution takes place, the Pokémon remains that way. In the main series of games, mega evolutions take place during battles and a Pokémon will return to its original form once the battle is done. Last but not least, while not included in the loading screen, data miners have also discovered seven Galarian forms of Pokémon in Pokémon GO’s code. They include Rapidash, Yamask, and Slowbro whose Galarian form was recently discovered on the Isle of Armor.
