New Mythical Pokémon Can Heal Allies In Battle With Its Signature Move

The first new Mythical Pokémon that is coming to the Galar region in Pokémon Sword & Shield will have a powerful signature move that will allow it to heal itself and its allies in battle.

Healing moves have existed since the days of Pokémon Red & Blue, with moves like Recover and Soft-Boiled restoring lost HP in battle. These moves were usually used by Pokémon with high HP stats (like Chansey or Snorlax) or Legendary Pokémon with the ability to tank hits. The ability to heal HP and status effects became far more important when Double Battles became the standard for competitive matches, as moves like Heal Pulse could be used to help out wounded allies.

The first Mythical Pokémon to be added to Pokémon Sword & Shield is a Dark/Grass-type Pokémon called Zarude, who will appear in the next Pokémon movie. A new update on the official Pokémon Sword & Shield website has revealed that Zarude has an incredibly powerful signature move called Jungle Healing, which can heal its allies.

Zarude will learn Jungle Healing when it hits level 90. The website states that Zarude is the only Pokémon with the ability to learn this move, but that could change in future Pokémon games. Jungle Healing is a Grass-type move that causes Zarude to fire vines from its back and extract life energy from the nearby plant life. The move heals Zarude and its ally Pokémon from both HP damage and status effects. It’s unclear how much HP is restored by this move, but considering it’s a high-level signature move belonging to a Mythical Pokémon, it’s likely a lot.

Jungle Healing seems as if it will be an incredibly useful move, but it won’t be a factor in official tournaments, considering that Mythical Pokémon are banned from competitive play. Like the other Mythical Pokémon that have come before it, Zarude will just be a novelty Pokémon that players can use to beat their friends in friendly matches or to really put the screws to the Champion.
