Encountering bugs in a game can be pretty annoying, but bugs in multiplayer competitive games make things worse. However, having an opponent exploit those bugs to gain an unfair advantage in the competition is one of the most frustrating things for a gamer. That’s what certain Overwatch players have been facing of late.

Reports have been coming in of a bug that has made the hero shooter almost unplayable due to certain players using it to annoy their opponents. The bug in question pertains to spamming voice lines, which in turn results in a loud piercing sound via the Overwatch audio for other players. People who fall victim to this bug have no choice other than to drop out of the game to get rid of the sound.

Unfortunately, that’s not the worst part. As pointed out by GameRant, the piercing sound not only makes the game unplayable, but could also result in hardware damage to your PC. This hasn’t been verified as of yet, but one Twitter user, Metro_OW, who is also a partnered streamer on Twitch, has mentioned that the bug causes concern for damage.

Blizzard has not yet addressed the issue, but there is hopefully a fix coming out soon, as the frequency of the exploit being used seems to be increasing as more players find out about it.

Competitive multiplayer games tend to encounter new bugs and issues all the time, and that’s understandable, given the number of updates that go into a live game. However, Call of Duty: Warzone has been a hotbed for these kinds of issues, especially after the release of the Verdansk ‘84 map.

A number of players have been using exploits to either glitch into inaccessible buildings, or even below the map. Once they’re there, they become effectively invisible and invincible as they are not only hidden from their opponents, but can also shoot out of these walls, while opponents are unable to shoot in.

While we wait for the developers to fix the issue, a recent developmental update for the upcoming Overwatch 2 has revealed that Blizzard will shrink teams in the PVP mode down from 6v6 to 5v5. The number of tanks allowed per team will also be limited.
