Ubisoft has been back in the spotlight as of late, and probably not for the best of reasons. For Ubisoft, any press is good press as their Elite Squad fiasco has brought them newfound attention. With all eyes on Ubisoft, the publisher has announced a new Ubisoft Forward event is taking place next week.
More than likely, the digital event will have some big-name franchises make an appearance and give sneak peeks into upcoming titles many fans have been waiting to see. One name popping up in the past year is Prince of Persia, and rumors have suggested that the Prince is dead. If you are a fan of Prince of Persia, you might be in luck as new rumors hint at a possible Prince of Persia reveal at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward on September 10th.
Prince Of Persia Returns
Speaking on the latest episode of the Triple Click podcast, Jason Schreier discussed the situation with Ubisoft’s Elite Squad marketing causing conflict between Ubisoft staff and executives, as employees were just as upset as fans. Around the 27 minute mark, Jason discussed how this controversy timing was a perfect storm as Ubisoft had been planning to “announce a bunch of games like the Prince of Persia remake that was leaked a couple of weeks ago.”
For those of you that may have forgotten, a new Prince of Persia has been leaked recently and was covered last week. Jason Schreier commented on the leak and his sources in Ubisoft, all but giving official confirmation of a new Prince of Persia being announced in the upcoming Ubisoft Forward.
You may be cautious in believing rumors, which is understandable, but do note Ubisoft has had a consistent track record for having many of their major titles leaked ahead of their announcement. Our money is on Prince of Persia being announced next week. The question now is whether the new title will be a reboot of the Prince of Persia franchise, a new entry that continues previous stories, or a remake of a past title?
