All of the new announcements regarding Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 at PDXCON 2019 have been collated in a new video that recaps the event, including a closer look at the combat system and the reveal of a new NPC.

PDXCON 2019 was a celebration of the games developed and published by Paradox Interactive, with announcements made for new titles and in-depth looks at upcoming titles. The anticipation for more Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 information was high going into PDXCON 2019, even though it was announced shortly before the event that the game would be pushed back from its March 2020 release date to a later point in the year.

The highlights of the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 panels at PDXCON 2019 have been uploaded to the official Paradox Interactive YouTube Channel. One of the aspects of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 that the developers wanted to focus on was getting first-person combat right, especially as the melee battles in the original game were so chaotic. The balance of combat has been adjusted over the course of development in order to encourage the player to switch up their tactics and offer more of a challenge.

One of the main inspirations for the game was old pulp detective novels, due to how the protagonists are flawed characters whose position allows them to mingle with different social groups. The protagonist of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will have similar qualities.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 uses a first-person perspective, which means that the face-to-face dialogue moments from the original game will return. One of the new characters revealed in the recap is a vampire named Chip, who was embraced during the grunge era of Seattle’s history and he will respond in different ways depending on the protagonist’s actions.

Hub areas were an important part of the original Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, as they provided a place for the player to feed on mortals, so long as they didn’t break the Masquerade in public. Seattle will have its own hubs in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 with their own unique styles and it will be easier to hunt in them than the previous games due to how the protagonist can easily scale buildings in order to flee pursuers.

The developers of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 delayed the game in order to avoid crunch and to provide as strong a product as possible. The delay might have been the best decision the developers made, as the game will be avoiding the incredibly competitive March 2020 launch window, where it would have been released alongside games like Final Fantasy VII Remake. The fans have waited fifteen years for a sequel to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines and they can wait a little longer if it means the game ships in a superior state.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2020.
